Veterinary Surgeon
Job Description
Want to work in a state of the art 24/7 small animal hospital?
We are looking for a forward thinking, driven and conscientious vet to join our experienced and friendly 13 vet team. We ideally want a vet who is 2 + years qualified, but would invite applicants from confident 1 year qualified vets too.
Our hospital has three theatres, a large prep room, a quiet room, four wards with CASCO heated kennels, 10 consulting rooms, bedrooms for OOH colleagues, and an amazing colleague room and kitchen to enjoy your breaks. We have a dedicated pharmacy team, so you won’t have to dispense your own medications from consults, and they will help process all medication requests. We run on 20 minute appointments, with plenty of diary capacity and space. We do video consults and there is the opportunity to be involved in driving this side of the business if interested. We use AI for our consult notes, and are keen to use technology to help you with your day to day admin tasks.
We are proud of our internal out of hours service. We can keep our interesting and exciting cases in house, and don’t need to refer out. We don't do OOH as "on-call" – you work your OOH shift as your paid hours for the week. We already have a team of night vets in place, so working OOH is not necessary for this role. However, if you want to explore OOH / ECC work we can accommodate this in your rota.
We have a culture to develop and grow the vets – you are never on your own, no branch work and we can support you to thrive in the workplace, and enjoy being a vet. This is the opportunity to work in an interesting environment with a varied caseload, where no 2 days are the same.
Key points:
- Advanced Practitioners in ECC, Medicine and General Practice
- 70% dogs, 30% cats and the odd rabbit/small furry
- 24/7 in patient facilities – case continuity and no transfers
- 20 minute appointments with dedicated in patient time
- Brand new endoscope and Sonovet ultrasound machine
- 5 days paid CPD with no financial limit, certificates paid for
- Full time position is 38 hours - 8am-7pm x 2 days, 8am- 5pm x 2 days and a day off
- Solely day work, opportunity to cover OOH with support if requested
- Part time position available also – we are a “jigsaw” practice and can slot your rota into ours
- Consulting only role available
- 1 in 4 weekends (working with another vet), with 2 days off in the week in lieu
- Salary £42k-£70k depending on experience/ skills matrix
As you would expect from the market leader in small animal veterinary care, we offer:
- Contributory Pension scheme
- Gym membership
- Paid volunteer days
- Paid memberships (RCVS and VDS)
- Opportunity to work full or part time.
- Exclusive company discounts and rewards
