Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Veterinary Care Assistant to join our Tilehurst Vets for Pets practice.

Our practice is bright, spacious, air-conditioned, and purpose-built to industry-leading standards, with state-of-the-art equipment including digital X-ray and in-house laboratory facilities.

In this role, you will support colleagues with a range of non-clinical duties, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice while delivering the highest standard of patient care. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress into a student nurse role in the future.

We’re open to both full- and part-time applications, with hours and shifts discussed at interview to find a suitable working pattern. Salary is in line with National Minimum Wage.

If you share our passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare and exceptional customer service, we would love to hear from you.

About You

  • Previous experience working within a veterinary practice would be highly desirable.
  • You’re friendly, approachable and passionate about delivering excellent client and patient care.
  • You’re confident communicating with clients and helping them understand the services available to them.
  • You remain calm, attentive and compassionate, whether supporting clients through difficult moments or celebrating the happier ones.
  • You’re enthusiastic, adaptable and happy to support different areas of the practice, including covering reception when required.
  • Your positive attitude and engaging personality help create a warm and welcoming environment for clients, pets and colleagues.

In short, you enjoy a busy environment, take pride in helping people and their pets, and always strive to make a difference.

Benefits

In return, we offer a range of benefits including:

  • 20% discount at the Vet Group, Pets at Home, and the Groom Room
  • Access to discounts and cashback schemes
  • In-house career development opportunities
  • Pension scheme
  • Holiday allowance

Location: RG30 1PR

We take our inspiration from pets in embracing people from all walks of life, and we value, respect and celebrate difference. We encourage our people to be their best selves so that we can create a better world for Pets, our Planet, and People. Our ambition is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and we are intentional in addressing and removing barriers to create opportunities for the exceptional talent and potential in our communities. Even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
