Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Veterinary Care Assistant to join the team at Bournemouth Vets for Pets!

Our bright, spacious practice is purpose-built to industry-leading standards and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including digital X-ray and an in-house laboratory.

We’re looking for a friendly, hardworking and dedicated team player who is keen to learn, enjoys being hands-on and is passionate about providing excellent care to both pets and their owners.

This is a 35-hour-per-week position, working shifts between 8am and 7pm, including 1 in 5 Saturdays. The starting salary is £12.71 per hour, with the role commencing in October 2026.

About the role

As a Veterinary Care Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping the practice clean, tidy and well organised
  • Feeding and monitoring in-patients
  • Running clinical tests
  • Managing stock levels
  • Handling a variety of small animals
  • Assisting with the preparation of operations
  • Deep cleaning clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Speaking with clients both face-to-face and over the telephone
  • Supporting the wider practice team wherever needed

  • Be able to handle a variety of situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Help create a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere within the practice
  • Be a reliable team player who is willing to get stuck in and support colleagues
