Job Description

Reception is the heartbeat of our practice. It is often the first smile a client sees, the calm voice during an emergency and the person who keeps the day running when everything else feels a little unpredictable.

We are looking for an experienced, confident, and approachable Senior Receptionist to join our friendly team at Waterlooville Vets for Pets. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys leading others, takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in.

You will work closely with our Practice Administrator to support the day to day running of the practice and make sure our high standards are maintained. When our Practice Administrator is away, you’ll confidently step into a leadership role, supported by our Head Nurse, Deputy Head Nurse and Practice Owner.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent customer service experience.
  • Has strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Leads by example and isn’t afraid to make decisions.
  • Enjoys bringing out the best in others.
  • Can remain calm, kind and professional even when the day becomes a little hectic.
  • Takes pride in high standards and notices the little things others might miss.
  • Communicates confidently with clients and the team.

Veterinary experience would be welcomed but isn’t essential. We are much more interested in finding someone with the right attitude and a passion for delivering outstanding customer care.

The role

Flexible hours, ideally between 33 to 40 hours per week, spread over 4 weekdays, and one in four Saturdays. Shifts will include a mix of earlies, from 8:00am, and closes, until 7:15pm.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and leading our reception team throughout the day.
  • Helping ensure reception runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Completing and overseeing daily administrative tasks.
  • Maintaining high standards across all reception processes.
  • Supporting client enquiries both in person, over the telephone and via text / WhatsApp.
  • Work alongside our clinical team to deliver an exceptional client and patient experience.
  • Acting as the reception lead when the Practice Administrator is absent.

What you’ll receive

  • Competitive salary, depending on experience.
  • Annual leave, increasing after two years’ service.
  • Additional paid day off for your Birthday day.
  • Company pension.
  • CPD and opportunities for personal development.
  • Discounted veterinary care for your own pets.
  • Staff discounts with Pets at Home and a range of other retailers.
  • A supportive team that genuinely enjoys working together.
  • The opportunity to help shape how our reception team continues to grow.

Why Waterlooville Vets for Pets?

We believe great patient care starts with a great team. We work hard, support one another, and genuinely care about the experience our clients, patients and team have every single day, which is reflected in our online reviews and our practice values.

If you’re looking for a role where your ideas are valued, your leadership makes a difference and no two days are ever quite the same, we’d love to hear from you.
