Job Description

Be Part of Something New – Join Our Brand-New Team!

We are looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to join our brand-new practice in Port Talbot.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a friendly, hardworking team from the very beginning and play an important role in helping us build a practice that delivers exceptional care to both patients and clients.

About us

Our purpose-built, modern practice has been thoughtfully designed with both patients and colleagues in mind, featuring:

  • 4 consult rooms, including a shared X-ray room
  • Separate dog and cat waiting areas
  • Dedicated prep area and operating theatre
  • Dentistry suite
  • In-house lab, with digital X-ray and ultrasound planned
  • 8 cat kennels, 8 dog kennels, plus 2 walk-in kennels
  • Separate isolation ward
  • Spacious colleague area with shower facilities
  • Free parking and secure bike storage

We’ll also have the capacity to welcome visiting specialists, enabling us to keep more advanced care in-house.

Our Practice Owner, Rebecca, graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014 and brings extensive experience from both private practice and a busy PDSA hospital. Rebecca also holds a Certificate in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care, ensuring expert care for every patient.

Beyond veterinary work, Rebecca serves as an on-call firefighter, bringing exceptional teamwork, resilience, and community spirit to the practice.

The Role

As an experienced Veterinary Receptionist, you will be a key part of the client care team, helping to create a welcoming and professional experience for every client and patient who walks through our doors. We can offer both full or part time hours and this role will include 1 in 2 Saturday mornings.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing exceptional customer service and building strong client relationships
  • Managing appointments, enquiries, and client communications
  • Supporting the veterinary team with day-to-day administrative tasks
  • Handling payments and maintaining accurate client records
  • Ensuring the smooth running of reception and front-of-house services
  • Working collaboratively with the wider practice team

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working within a veterinary reception or client care role
  • Is confident, organised, and able to manage a busy workload
  • Has excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Is compassionate and understands the importance of providing outstanding care
  • Enjoys working as part of a close-knit team and contributing to the growth of a new practice

Location

Situated in Baglan, Port Talbot, our practice offers the perfect balance of convenience and lifestyle:

  • Just 5 minutes from the M4 (J41/42)
  • 7-minute walk to Baglan train station
  • Bus stop directly outside the practice
  • Surrounded by local amenities, including cafés, shops, and restaurants
  • 2 miles from Aberavon Beach
  • 20 minutes from Swansea
  • Close to Margam Country Park, Afan Forest Park, and Kenfig Nature Reserve
  • Within easy reach of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park

Perfect for enjoying the outdoors, weekend adventures, or a stroll along the coast!

Whether you enjoy hiking, cycling, water sports, or simply relaxing with a great coffee by the sea, this location truly has it all.

Interested?

As we establish the practice, you will have the opportunity to be part of an exciting journey, helping shape the culture and client experience from the very start.

If you are an experienced Veterinary Receptionist looking for a new challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking team, we would love to hear from you.

The closing date for applications will be Friday 28th August 2026.

Location: SA12 8EB
