Job Description

Salary up to £70,000 DOE | Full-Time 40 Hours | Every Other Saturday | Certificate Support | Relocation Package

We have an exciting new vision, and you could be the Experienced Veterinary Surgeon who helps us bring it to life.

Join our inspiring small animal practice in Guildford and take on a role where you’ll have the autonomy to make confident clinical decisions, influence how we work and play a meaningful part in shaping the future of the practice.

Guildford Vets for Pets is situated inside one of our new concept Pets at Home stores and is designed to deliver not only high clinical standards, but also a welcoming and supportive working environment for the whole team.

The practice is fitted with a high calibre of equipment, including Dental X-Ray, Video Otoscope and Microscope, as well as a dedicated surgical theatre and individually temperature- and lighting-controlled kennels.

In Your Role

As an experienced Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll play a key role in delivering outstanding clinical and client care while managing a varied small animal caseload and building strong relationships with clients and their pets.

This is also an opportunity to have greater ownership and influence within the practice. You’ll be encouraged to contribute your ideas, help shape clinical protocols and services, and have a genuine voice in how the practice develops. For someone looking to take the next step in their career, there is a realistic opportunity to grow professionally and take on greater responsibility as the practice evolves.

You’ll have at least two years’ small animal clinical experience and be confident working independently, including taking sole charge when required. You’ll be comfortable managing your own caseload, carrying out consultations, medical workups and routine surgical procedures.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work alongside an Advanced Practitioner, giving you access to valuable clinical expertise and the chance to continue developing your skills. With exposure to advanced surgeries, orthopaedic procedures and in-house referrals, there’s plenty of scope to build on your existing experience and develop your areas of interest.

Certificate holders, vets currently working towards a certificate, and those looking to develop a particular clinical interest could all be a great fit. You’ll also have access to a strong network of veterinary specialists for additional expertise and support.

Whether your ambition is to deepen your clinical expertise, develop a particular interest or gradually take on greater responsibility and influence within the practice, we want to support you in building a career that can grow with us.

You’ll be a confident communicator and supportive team player, committed to working collaboratively with colleagues and providing an excellent experience for both clients and their pets.

Hours & Package

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, including every other Saturday, 9am–5pm.
Salary up to £70,000 depending on experience, alongside certificate support and a relocation package.

If you’re an experienced vet looking for more autonomy, greater clinical influence and the opportunity to help shape the future of a developing practice, we’d love to hear from you.

Location: GU1 1EE

We take our inspiration from pets in embracing people from all walks of life, and we value, respect and celebrate difference. We encourage our people to be their best selves so that we can create a better world for Pets, our Planet, and People. Our ambition is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and we are intentional in addressing and removing barriers to create opportunities for the exceptional talent and potential in our communities. Even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
