We are seeking an ECVIM-CA/ACVIM Diplomate (or residency-trained/board-eligible clinician) or RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Internal Medicine to join us and help shape our new, purpose-built referral hospital in North Essex.

Colchester Veterinary Referral & ECC Hospital is a growing, multidisciplinary team of 27 passionate veterinary professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional, affordable, evidence-based, multidisciplinary veterinary care in the North Essex area.   • Challenging & Diverse Caseload: Manage a rich mix of complex medical referrals and critical care cases — from acute endocrine, respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurological and oncological emergencies to chronic disease management and interventional procedures. Expect a high proportion of second-opinion and referral work with excellent case variety and depth.
  • Freedom to Lead & Shape: You decide how your days flow, with dedicated time carved out for deep case analysis and thoughtful diagnostics. Beyond that, you hold genuine authority to design clinical protocols, pioneer new services, explore research-driven improvements, and introduce best-in-class pathways — all without layers of corporate approval slowing you down.
  • Investment in Your Expertise: We recognise that advanced medicine clinicians require the right equipment, diagnostic tools and ongoing quality CPD to thrive. We are open to discussing additional capital investment and tailored CPD support so you can deliver the highest standard of care and continue to grow your specialist interests.
  • Collaborative Multidisciplinary Environment: Join a stable, skilled clinical team of 50+ Vets and RVN’s with strong interests across surgery, ophthalmology, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, ECC, exotics and more. You will work closely with other certificate holders, advanced practitioners and residency trained colleagues in a true team-based setting, focused on optimal patient outcomes.
  • Mentoring & Leadership Opportunities: Share your knowledge by mentoring interns, certificate candidates and advanced practitioners. There is scope to develop subspecialty interests (e.g., neurology, oncology, cardiology, interventional endoscopy) and lead service development.
  • 24/7 In-House Care: No out of hours work or on call needed as our dedicated night ECC team of advanced practitioners and residency trained clinicians provide a very high standard of continuous hospitalisation and monitoring, so you can focus on daytime complex cases with complete confidence in overnight patient care.
  • Manageable Rota & Work-Life Balance: Our rota is collaboratively designed to be personalised to you, fair and flexible, accommodating your preferred work-life balance while delivering continuous, high-quality care for our patients.
