We are seeking an experienced ECVIM-CA / ECVDI Diplomate (or residency-trained / board-eligible clinician) or RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Diagnostic Imaging to join and help shape the growing imaging service at our new, purpose-built referral hospital in North Essex.

About Us Colchester Veterinary Referral & ECC Hospital is a growing, multidisciplinary team of 27 passionate veterinary professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, respect, and lifelong learning, we are looking for a talented diagnostic imaging clinician to lead and develop our advanced diagnostic imaging service.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Competitive Salary: £75,000 – £110,000+ per annum (depending on experience, qualifications and leadership responsibilities). Flexible working options available.
  • State-of-the-Art Facilities: Purpose-built referral hospital with a dedicated imaging suite, on-site CT scanner, advanced ultrasound (including point-of-care and echocardiography), endoscopy, and a comprehensive in-house laboratory.
  • Challenging & Diverse Caseload: A rich and varied imaging workload supporting our busy internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, ophthalmology, oncology, and ECC services. You will see a high proportion of complex referral cases with excellent case variety and depth.
  • Freedom to Lead & Shape: You’ll have genuine autonomy to develop imaging protocols, introduce new techniques, and shape the future direction of the imaging service. You will work directly with the hospital owner (a practising vet) and senior clinical leaders to rapidly and effectively drive innovation and clinical development.
  • Investment in Your Expertise: We are committed to supporting your professional development and are open to discussing additional equipment, CPD, and training opportunities tailored to your specific specialist interests.
  • Collaborative Multidisciplinary Environment: Work closely with other residency trained and advanced practitioners in internal medicine, surgery, ECC, ophthalmology, and cardiology in a true team-based setting focused on optimal patient outcomes.
  • Mentoring & Leadership Opportunities: Play a key role in mentoring interns, certificate candidates, and junior vets while helping to build and lead a high-quality imaging service.
  • 24/7 In-House Care: No out-of-hours or on-call required. Your patients will be in excellent hands around the clock, with our dedicated and experienced ECC team providing continuous hospitalisation, advanced monitoring, and high-quality overnight care.
  • Manageable Rota & Work-Life Balance: A fair and flexible rota designed around your lifestyle and commitments.
  • Prime Location: North Essex with excellent transport links — just 47 minutes by train to London Liverpool Street, and convenient access to Stansted, Southend, and Luton airports.
