What you’ll be doing...

Verizon seeks a highly motivated, initiative-taking, business-oriented attorney to join the Verizon Value legal team. Specifically, this attorney will be the lead lawyer for the Visible and Simple Mobile brands. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Verizon legal team that supports the provision of wireless services to Verizon’s 20+ million prepaid consumers.

The candidate will provide legal advice, counsel, and support on a broad range of matters of significant complexity, including sales and marketing, regulatory compliance, governance, and corporate affairs. It may also involve support for the formation of new and different commercial models and partnerships. The role requires an attorney with rigorous legal skills, excellent judgment, strong business orientation, a high degree of emotional intelligence, a focus on solutions, and accountability. The ideal candidate will view themself as the Visible and Simple Mobile General Counsel.

The candidate must be a seasoned professional able to actively contribute to business strategy discussions in a fast-paced environment. The candidate needs to be comfortable making decisions in “gray” areas, with the ability to help senior leadership navigate to business objectives while meeting legal requirements. The successful candidate will help to implement innovative strategies within a competitive wireless environment with a strong commitment to business integrity and risk mitigation.

In addition, the candidate will:

  • Providing strategic guidance to manage and calibrate holistic risks and opportunities.

  • Supporting commercial activity, including marketing, sales, and operations.

  • Guiding commercial and marketing teams to ensure all aspects of offer implementation and new product/feature launches are appropriately addressed, including claim substantiation, eligibility criteria, segmentation, targeting for marketing, offer communications, redemption process, and post-launch analysis.

  • Providing counsel to advertising and marketing teams, collaborating on the design and development of digital marketing, commercials, collateral, and packaging to ensure compliance with applicable law.

  • Ensuring compliance with existing marketing policies, federal and state laws and regulations, as well as Verizon’s Credo and associated policies, and assisting in formulation of solutions to any identified problem areas to ensure compliance, minimize company risk, and promote a positive customer experience.

  • Establishing and continuously refining legal guidelines and processes with a focus on promoting operational efficiency, prompt client service and maximum level of compliance.

  • Disseminating relevant legal information to the Visible/Simple Mobile teams, including by way of training and education.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • JD degree and six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Admission and good standing in at least one state.

  • Experience supporting advertising law, federal and state consumer protection laws and/or regulations and general consumer protection issues.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Prior experience demonstrating ability to identify and mitigate risk, establishing trusting relationships with clients, and to drive meaningful results.

  • Prior telecommunications experience.

  • Detail oriented and a self-starter with the ability to provide proactive, accurate and effective legal support, to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, often unpredictable environment with competing priorities and with minimal supervision.

  • Highly developed analytical reasoning skills, report analysis and keen attention to detail and processes.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every "even better" qualification listed above.
