What you’ll be doing...

Corporate System Group's mission is to digitize Verizon's core processes to deliver real time insights and capabilities enabling differentiation to our customers, employees, shareholders and society driving growth and competitive advantage. We are the core of how VZ runs, supporting the corporate lines of business such as Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Commercials Billing / Settlements and Global Real Estate.

The ideal candidate is a thought leader, a consensus builder, and an integrator of people and processes with sound knowledge of IT Program management practices. She or he will work closely with the Senior Director to enforce the standardized Program management process for IT investment across the enterprise

In this role, you will rely on your quantitative, qualitative, executive leadership, and innovative thinking skills to develop strategic recommendations that drive growth and profitability for Verizon Corporate Systems Group (CSG).

You will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

Governance:

  • Establishing a centralized center of excellence PMO in alignment with PMI guidelines , CSG PMO framework & CSG Operating model requirements

  • Building a PMO brand offering / Vision board that is comparable to big 5 consulting organizations outlines value offerings, responsibilities, services and deliverables.

  • Continuing to evolve the PMO framework to ensure consistency across CSG in how we execute, manage risk, measure OKRs / KPIs and provide leadership report outs for products / projects / programs

  • Developing, implementing, and governing program management processes, tools, templates, policies and metrics.

Team Leadership:

  • Establishing the PMO organization structure, hire and manage staffing alignment based on competencies in line with CSG objectives.

  • Establishing a vendor engagement framework with process flow, RACI and deliverables to facilitate effortless scale up / scale down as necessary.

  • Collaborating with the portfolio team to ensure that the PMO focuses on prioritized strategic initiatives that bring the maximum value to the business

  • Coaching and Tracking the PMO team against established OKRs.

  • Mentoring Program managers & improve maturity curve of the team to go on par with industry standards

Tracking, Governance & Risk Management:

  • Providing Project planning, Milestone management, Scope management, Resource forecasting and Change Management services across the project portfolio

  • Monitoring Project health , key design decisions & Risk reporting and assisting the team in reporting to Senior Management and stakeholders.

  • Ensuring cross-program dependencies are managed and the dependency log is accurately maintained.

  • Facilitating change control process.

  • Ensuring adoption project management tools and standards.

  • Ensuring PMs leverage Smartsheets tool for intake, resource management and project health report outs.

  • Ensuring programs adhere to the agreed budget .

  • Coordinating project closure and ensuring lessons learned are logged.

  • Participating in scenario planning and “war gaming” workshops.

  • Collaborating with key stakeholders—business unit executives, Verizon corporate finance and product development teams—to realize the value of strategic initiatives.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Ten or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience in strategy consulting, technology consulting or corporate development.

  • Experience with establishing PMOs and governance frameworks.

  • Experience in Direct people management.

  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following.

  • Masters in Business Administration.

  • Background or demonstrated interest in telecom, technology or media industries.

  • PMP certification.

  • Capability to be a structured thinker with a strong analytical approach.

  • Possess good research, problem solving, and analytical skills, including excellent PowerPoint and Google Sheets / Excel capabilities, with impeccable analytical and business judgment.

  • Excellent quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills; high proficiency in Excel.

  • Ability to synthesize information quickly and present insights to senior management.

  • Proven track record of problem identification, solution development, implementation and post-implementation monitoring and support.

  • Ability to be a team player with experience working both in teams and as an individual contributor.

  • Possess good communication skills (long-form writing, Google slides/ PowerPoint and verbal)

  • Able to be creative, have intellectual curiosity and thrive in a dynamic environment.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
