Job Description

Our organisation prides itself on two key areas: delivering the highest quality statistical consultancy to clients, and providing an industry‑leading working environment that supports learning, development, and long‑term career growth. We have multiple opportunities for Lead Oncology Statisticians to join on a permanent basis, at Senior to Principal level, with roles available in the UK and the US.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to provide statistical leadership to oncology studies across a range of clinical development programmes. As a Lead Oncology Statistician, you will be responsible for guiding statistical strategy, supporting regulatory submissions, and partnering closely with cross‑functional teams throughout the study lifecycle. You may also take on a supervisory role, such as line management and/or project leadership, depending on experience and interest. This position is well suited to statisticians with strong experience in clinical studies and regulatory submissions, who are comfortable working independently and acting as the primary statistical point of contact on their studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as Lead Statistician on oncology clinical studies
  • Providing study‑level and project‑level statistical leadership
  • Leading statistical input into protocols, SAPs, clinical study reports, and regulatory submissions
  • Review and oversight of statistical deliverables produced by internal teams or external partners
  • Study design activities, including sample size calculations, ad‑hoc and exploratory analyses
  • Effective collaboration with clinicians and other disciplines
  • Supporting mentoring, peer review, and broader statistical excellence initiatives

Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Senior to Principal level experience as a statistician within clinical development
  • Strong experience with clinical trials and regulatory submissions
  • Ability to work independently, managing workload across multiple studies
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain statistical concepts to non‑statisticians
  • Curious, proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership

Desirable / Developmental:

  • Oncology experience
  • Basic understanding or willingness to learn Bayesian methods and causal inference modelling
  • Comfortable coding in R or other non‑SAS languages, or open to learning beyond SAS

Opportunities

  • Providing leadership on high‑profile oncology studies
  • Influencing study design and innovative statistical methodologies
  • Line management and peer mentoring opportunities
  • Contributing to process improvement, internal training, and best‑practice development

What to Expect

  • A supportive, collaborative environment where expertise is valued
  • Exposure to complex and impactful oncology studies
  • The opportunity to truly own your role and influence study strategy
  • Clear scope for career development at Senior or Principal level

If you are an independent, inquisitive statistician who enjoys leading studies and working at the forefront of oncology development, we’d love to hear from you.
