Job Purpose

We have a great opportunity for a Water Customer Technician to join our team in Blackburn.

You’ll be the first point of contact for customer issue resolution and to ensure the delivery of excellent customer service

It will be your role to deliver first time resolution to water network customer issues and problems. You’ll be responsible for the end to end management of customer issue resolution, from the initial appointment to final resolution, supported by the area based Water Customer Managers and the Network teams.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by attending customer appointments, resolving service issues, and managing supply disconnections, shut-offs, and restorations.
  • Investigate and resolve water network issues, including leak detection on customer services and company assets, pressure and flow problems, and mains flushing activities.
  • Support operational and emergency response activities through incident management, event support, network valve operations, risk assessments, and area rezoning projects.
  • Conduct field investigations, sampling, and claims assessments, including consequential damage and insurance claims, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Maintain effective stakeholder communication and accurate operational records, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to raise follow-on work and ensure safe working practices, vehicle maintenance, and PPE compliance.

What We Are Looking For:

  • GCSE grade C or above, City and Guilds, or ability to demonstrate technical and customer skills
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of water networks and leakage detection and repair techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills
  • Excellent customer service focus and be able to resolve customer issues
  • Ability to work alone as well as effectively as part of a team
  • A good level of competency in the use of relevant IT packages
