
Technical Officer (Developer Services)
Job Description
The role:
We’re looking for an experienced and driven technical leader to manage a team of Developer Services Inspectors, providing expert guidance and oversight across all aspects of Developer Services Field operations. This role is responsible for driving technical excellence, improving operational performance, and ensuring outstanding customer outcomes through effective leadership, performance analysis, and continuous improvement. Working closely with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and industry partners, you will lead technical projects, support innovation and strategic development, and provide the planning, supervision, and technical expertise needed to ensure service level agreements are consistently achieved and operational challenges are resolved effectively.
What you'll be doing:
- Responsible for the leadership and management of a team of Developer Services Inspectors.
- To develop strong technical capability and competence to deliver improved performance
- To be responsible for all technical aspects of Developer Services Field with a customer performance accountability
- To be responsible for analysing and interpreting operational performance information and proactively identifying and implementing corrective actions within Health and Safety requirements and escalating performance risks to the Field Services Manager.
- To carry out research and development projects, liaising with internal departments and external organisations to support the development of Developer Services strategies.
- To be proactively involved with the planning, practical technical input and supervision of the DSI’s and Data analysts to ensure SLA’s are met and any issues are resolved.
- Liaison with external suppliers understanding technical aspects of existing DS Field and associated equipment and innovation.
- To undertake specific roles, projects or initiatives requiring technical input

What we're looking for:
- Educated to relevant degree level in a technical discipline
- Excellent general knowledge of UUW policy, strategy and initiatives
- Proven project management skills
- Proven experience in creation of strategies to support business Key Performance Indicators
- Excellent knowledge of metering technology and Solid understanding of industry AMR/Smart metering competitor activity-IS this required for the role
- Experience of leading benchmarking programmes
- An understanding of UU Wholesale’s market responsibilities and also the relationship with other UU departments including Domestic Retail.
