Our team explores innovations that deliver value and drives the deployment these solutions at scale to unlock outperformance against our ambitious targets.

We’re looking for an Innovation Insights Analyst to join our growing Engineering Innovation & Outperformance team in United Utilities — a passionate, ambitious team behind award-winning innovation projects delivering real impact for customers, communities, and the environment.

With an expanding portfolio and bold targets ahead, this is a fantastic opportunity to help power the insights that drive the next wave of innovation in a vital, evolving industry.

You’ll sit at the heart of our innovation activity, helping us identify trends, capture learning, and make smarter decisions.

From emerging technologies to real-world trials in the water sector, you’ll turn information into insight — ensuring innovation is driven by evidence, not guesswork.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll work at the heart of our innovation ecosystem, gathering intelligence, unlocking insights and connecting knowledge across the business to support better decision-making.

Insights & Intelligence

  • Gather and analyse internal and external insights on technology, regulation and sector trends
  • Produce clear, engaging briefings and summaries to support strategic thinking
  • Spot emerging trends and highlight what matters most to senior stakeholders

Knowledge Management

  • Capture lessons learned from innovation projects, trials and pilots
  • Keep knowledge organised, accessible and easy to use (e.g. SharePoint, document libraries)
  • Develop case studies, summaries and reusable knowledge assets

Innovation Pipeline Support

  • Maintain and track activity across the innovation pipeline
  • Support idea development by gathering and structuring evidence
  • Help prepare materials for idea review and prioritisation

Communication & Dissemination

  • Create engaging internal and external communications materials
  • Support knowledge-sharing events and activities
  • Help raise awareness and understanding of innovation across the business

Performance & Reporting

  • Collate data to support reporting on performance and benefits
  • Contribute to developing dashboards and insight-driven reporting outputs

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who’s naturally curious, well-organised and confident working with data and insight — someone who can turn complex information into clear, actionable messages.

Essential

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in science, engineering or a related field
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills
  • Ability to structure, interpret and present information clearly
  • A curious, proactive mindset with a willingness to explore and challenge
  • Experience using digital tools such as SharePoint and LinkedIn
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Awareness of the UK water sector or a regulated infrastructure environment
  • Experience supporting innovation, research or continuous improvement initiatives
