We are looking for a talented and technical enthusiast to join the newly formed Enablers technology organisation which provides solutions, consultancy, education and guidance from getting started to running in the cloud (through the creation of cloud native, cost effective, reliable and secure solutions), as well as operational excellence on transient on-premises solutions being transitioned to cloud.

The Junior Cloud Engineer is a practitioner and an advocate of state-of-the-art cloud engineering practices. Working in an agile environment and keeping up with the ever-evolving technical landscape the Junior Cloud Engineer is a lifelong learner and likes to think out of the box.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • You will be part of a cross-functional team or a practice team that enables secure coding, secure design, and security automation skills and capabilities in domains. Being an enthusiast in information security, with a DevSecOps mindset, and thanks to your excellent collaboration skills you will support your team in delivering the best answers to our customers’ needs and take responsibility for some of its applications, from design to operation
  • You use your technical skills to create software products that are secure by default and work collaboratively with software engineers, cloud engineers and architects to ensure information security is considered throughout design and implementation of software products and services
  • You stay up to update with TUI Group practices, building a ‘security first’ mindset that you share with your team and peers
  • You work alongside engineering teams to understand the threat landscape, business requirements, contributing to the description of security risks and goals
  • You support your team by suggesting tooling and automation to identify possible threats and vulnerabilities before they are promoted to production, thereby helping to protect our customers’ data
  • You work hands-on and can support the whole cycle of designing, building, testing and deploying software on AWS
  • You are able to verbalise your thoughts and ideas and take the initiative to translate ideas into outcomes. Together with the domain’s Practice teams as well as the Group Enabler teams you also will research, evaluate and test new approaches, processes and tools and help teams to use them effectively
  • You learn and grow in your role and welcome receiving support and coaching from senior colleagues

ABOUT YOU

  • Knowledge of working with highly available, distributed systems and services in a cloud environment
  • Familiar with information security standards & practices and their practical implications
  • Ability to design and implement scaled cloud systems with a focus on solution architecture, using a range of tools and services, infrastructure-as-code, DevSecOps and security engineering practices
  • Experience in working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), its products feature and capabilities including but not limited to IAM, SSO, Config, Lambda, Trusted Advisor, Inspector, Security Hub, Cognito, GuardDuty, KMS, Shield, as well as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services covering the typical SLDC
  • Familiar with information security standards & practices and their practical implications
  • Programming skills at a proficient level to work with multiple software development technologies, e.g. Java, Javascript, C++, Go, Ruby
  • Scripting language skills at a proficient level, e.g. Python, Shell Script, AWS CLI
  • Experience with CI/CD, preferably Gitlab CI and IaC like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Knowledge in networking like IP, DNS, firewalling, load-balancing and VPNs
  • Customer centric, passionate about delivering great digital products and services
  • Demonstrating true engineering craftsmanship mindset
  • Be an advocate of the DevOps culture and principles.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement, collaboration and great teams
  • Problem-solving skills for complex areas coupled with excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of social and ethical implications of software engineering
  • Open minded, inquisitive, life-long learner
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous environment with an appropriate level of autonomy
