Job Description

The Analytics Capabilities team consists of the Analytics Product Managers, Data and Business Intelligence Analysts and Software Developers. The team is responsible for defining, prioritising and delivering the self-serve analytics strategy, user behavioural data tracking and optimisation capability. The Analytics Implementation squad within the Analytics Capabilities team enables more informed and faster decisions by designing new analytics implementations and re-implementations, raising the implementation coverage across core sites alongside data quality enhancements.
The position can be based in our head office in Welwyn Garden City or our Digital Innovation centre in Farringdon, London. This role is focused on designing, building and maintaining a shared mobile analytics library that can be adopted consistently across Tesco mobile applications. The successful candidate will help reduce duplicated implementation effort, improve data quality and enable app teams to integrate analytics in a simpler, more reliable way. Whilst specific responsibilities will depend on the changing needs of Tesco as a business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures:
• Design, build and maintain a shared analytics library for native mobile applications, with a focus on Kotlin and Swift. • Create reusable, well-tested mobile SDK components that make analytics implementation consistent, reliable and easy for application teams to adopt.• Partner with Android, iOS, Product, Data and Analytics teams to translate behavioural tracking requirements into robust technical solutions.• Support implementation of analytics platforms such as Adobe Analytics, Customer Journey Analytics and Google Analytics 4 within native mobile apps.• Define and follow a clear quality assurance process, including unit testing, integration testing, event validation, measurement verification and user acceptance testing.• Document library usage, implementation patterns, release processes and troubleshooting guidance for development teams.• This role will best suit someone who enjoys solving cross-platform mobile engineering problems, works collaboratively with application teams and is motivated by building reusable solutions that improve data quality, customer understanding and long-term engineering efficiency. Essential experience:• Strong commercial experience building native mobile applications using Kotlin for Android and Swift for iOS.• Experience designing reusable mobile libraries, SDKs, frameworks or shared platform components used by multiple application teams.• Good understanding of mobile application architecture, dependency management, release processes, versioning and backwards compatibility.• Ability to write clean, readable, maintainable and performant code with appropriate automated testing and peer review practices.• Experience debugging, validating and troubleshooting analytics events across mobile development, test and production environments.• Ability to communicate clearly with engineers, product managers, analysts and stakeholders, translating business tracking needs into practical technical designs.

Desirable experience:• Experience implementing or supporting digital analytics in mobile apps, ideally using Adobe Analytics, Customer Journey Analytics, Google Analytics 4 or similar platforms.• Strong knowledge of event-based data collection, JSON payloads, consent-aware tracking, privacy considerations and data quality controls.• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and an understanding of how it can be used to share business logic or library functionality across Android and iOS applications.

Personal:• Pragmatic, organised and comfortable working with ambiguity while turning requirements into clear technical solutions.• Able to build strong working relationships with mobile engineers, product managers, analysts and senior stakeholders.• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You might know us as a supermarket, technology company or even for our award-winning mobile network. Truth is, we’re all of those things, and much more. Our colleagues work with one goal in mind, helping to make every day a little better for our customers, colleagues and communities all over the world. No two customers are the same, neither are our colleagues. At Tesco, we champion a balance that lets you thrive both in and out of work. Spend 60% of your week collaborating with colleagues at our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely. Whether you're just kicking off your career, juggling passions, or navigating big life events, we're here to support you. We always welcome a conversation about flexible working, so talk to us throughout your application about how we can support. We're proud to be an accredited Disability Confident Leader, where everyone’s welcome. That’s why we commit to providing a fully inclusive and accessible recruitment process.
