Job Description
The Tesco Store Foundation Edge team are responsible for deploying Infrastructure technology into our stores enabling business programmes to realise benefits of the latest edge technologies and helping keep colleagues and infrastructure safe & secure. Edge infrastructure is critical to successful store operations now and in the future.
This is a great opportunity to deliver valuable impact at scale; by aligning our Edge workstreams to deliver the latest technology blueprints into our Stores, Depots & Head Offices we can support reduction in operating costs and maximise the value of our capital investments.
This is a new role supporting the Edge Programmes expanding scope and growth opportunities within the Store Foundation space and will work across Tesco Group including Republic of Ireland & Central Europe. You will work closely with other Store Foundation Programmes including Store Operations and will have strong links with Technology Infrastructure Teams.
Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business; the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities:
- Owning, managing & delivering complex Edge workstreams & programmes with multiple business and technical risks that will impact the success of key Tesco business priorities.
- Designing and implementing new quality assurance processes supporting incremental changes to the hosting, network & platform blueprints across internal & external customers.
- Supporting Tesco regions; Republic of Ireland, Czech, Slovakia & Hungary with adopting the Blueprint.
- Managing delivery of Blueprint workstreams in Tesco regions; either in a consulting capacity or with responsibility for end-to-end delivery.
- Develop & maintain a new communication strategy for the Programmes.
- Lead RFP’s and commercial activities related to Blueprint workstreams and services supporting Save to invest targets.
- Line management: Empowering teams and individuals to manage delivery through delegation.
- Supporting the Product teams to create and communicate long term roadmaps for Edge technologies.
- Leading the adoption and improving practices across Product; Programme and Engineering.
- Manage dependences across engineering, operations and technology teams to deliver transparency and visibility for key outcomes.
- Able to foresee potential risks and issues; establish a process; facilitate discussions; and manage escalations
- Managing the trade-offs between competing priorities for resources and understanding of the business value and its contribution to the growth plan.
- Able to understand a technical architecture to be able to foresee the impact on dependencies; delivery timelines and implementation plans.
- Have good knowledge of engineering best practices and practical infrastructure implementations to appreciate delivery challenges.
- Understand technology concepts; grasp new ones quickly and appreciate their implications on delivery.
- Effectively manage incidents; ensuring stakeholders are updated with the right information to drive the correct decisions. Followed by conducting Post incident reviews; effectively communicate the output and follow up on the next steps.
- Proactively identify problems, working closely with Product and engineering teams to quantify their impact and influence prioritisation to meet programme requirements.
- Build positive relationships with internal & external stakeholders to deliver complex rollouts or installations; or professional services.

- A proven record of accomplishment in delivering technology and/or infrastructure.
- You must be able to articulate complex concepts to a diverse audience.
- Strong understanding of Technical Programme Management disciplines and managing within multiple frameworks.
- The ability to influence without authority.
- A proven record of managing complex supplier relationships.
- Management of annual Programme budgets. (Forecasting & Control).
