Job Description

Join our fast-paced and people-focused Finance team, a core function that co-pilots the business to deliver outstanding value for customers, colleagues, and shareholders. Our team plays a central role in everything we do at Tesco, while nurturing talent and crafting pathways for growth and, most importantly, we know how to have fun along the way!

We are actively recruiting for our Business Partnering and FP&A teams and would love to talk to you about how these roles can fit your career aspirations. In Business Partnering roles, you'll provide insights, challenge decisions, and offer strategic support to key areas such as Product, Customer, and Channels. Your financial and commercial expertise will help shape the business, drive value opportunities, and influence decisions.

As a Lead FP&A Manager, youll work across key areas such as Customer, Property, Technology, Procurement, Telecoms, and Trade Analysis, ensuring accurate performance reporting, co-ordinating our management accounts and leading on strategic planning and budgeting.

What it's like to work in our Finance team:

  • Sociable: Whether its netball or football tournaments, team days, Ready Steady Cook competitions, or running and book clubs, theres something for everyone!
  • People & development-focused: Our leadership team is committed to your growth, with regular conversations to help you learn, develop, and progress in your role.
  • Driven, collaborative & ambitious: Our finance team continually challenges each other to improve, with ample opportunities for progression no matter how long you've been at Tesco.
  • Supportive: Upon joining, youll have a buddy and mentor, ensuring you are supported both professionally and personally.

At Tesco, we believe in the power of spending more time together, face to face, than apart. So, during your working week, you can expect to spend 60% of your time in one of our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely. We also recognise that life looks a little different for each of us. Some people are at the start of their careers, some want the freedom to do the things they love. Others are going through life-changing moments like becoming a carer, nearing retirement, adapting to parenthood, or something else. Thats why at Tesco, we always welcome a conversation about flexible or part-time working. So, talk to us throughout your application about how we can support.

Business Partner:

  • Provide relevant insights on the performance of key projects to leadership teams in Product, Customer, or Channels.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to challenge and influence strategic projects for their function.
  • Manage forecasts and project results, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
  • Offer financial expertise to constructively challenge business initiatives and recommend improvements.
  • Proactively identify risks and propose solutions to mitigate potential issues.
  • Support decision-making processes to close performance gaps and drive value.
  • Lead performance review meetings, working closely with both business and global support functionteams.
  • Review, adjust and communicate strategic and operational plans to relevant commercial and operational teams.
  • Champion initiatives that drive efficiency and foster a cost-conscious culture.

FP&A:

  • Stand over monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and providing insightful commentary.
  • Coordinate the annual strategic planning and budgeting processes.
  • Support the Finance Director and senior leaders with ad-hoc projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Maximise the potential of global support functions and contribute to their development.
  • Accountancy qualification - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • Proven experience driving strategic priorities in large, fast-paced organisations.
  • Experience collaborating with senior colleagues across functions.
  • Strong financial analysis and modelling skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in planning and budgeting.
  • Retail industry experience is preferred, specifically related to any of Property, Technology or Marketing

You might know us as a supermarket, technology company or even for our award-winning mobile network. Truth is, were all of those things, and much more. Our colleagues work with one goal in mind, helping to make every day a little better for our customers, colleagues and communities all over the world. No two customers are the same, neither are our colleagues.

At Tesco, we champion a balance that lets you thrive both in and out of work. Spend 60% of your week collaborating with colleagues at our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely. Whether you're just kicking off your career, juggling passions, or navigating big life events, we're here to support you. We always welcome a conversation about flexible working, so talk to us throughout your application about how we can support.

We're proud to be an accredited Disability Confident Leader, where everyones welcome. Thats why we commit to providing a fully inclusive and accessible recruitment process.
