What you´ll build
As a robotics student in our Strategic Innovation Projects Team, you will work on innovative projects that emphasize the value proposition of the SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP Business AI. Under the supervision of a senior developer, you will work on building the bridge between the world of robotics and enterprise software. This includes setting up and operating various kinds of robots, explore extensions and developing prototypes of robots performing specific tasks or extending their skills using AI.
You will have the chance to directly work with an agile group of students with a tech and design background to bring ideas together and jointly ship real applications to real end users.
We are looking for a software engineering student with a broad understanding of robotics and the software development process. You should be able to join a software development project at every stage in the process to craft what is needed to deliver a great experience to real end users.
What you bring
- Student (f/m/d) at a university of applied sciences in Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Robotics skills:
- ROS2 or other related systems
- Visualization and simulation tools, e.g. RViz
- Computer skills:
- Solid foundational knowledge in computer science and software engineering methodology
- Experience in source code management (e.g., git)
- Experience in software development (e.g. Python, Java, Rust)
- Practical Skills:
- feeling comfortable in a workshop environment
- knowing how to work with wrenches and screwdrivers to assemble robots
- Experience in 3D printing is a plus
- Language skills: Fluent in English (written and spoken), German is a plus
- Soft skills:
- Eager to learn about new technologies
- Hands-on, reliable and open-minded mentality
- Strong team working skills
- Determined to reach a goal in time, to work independently and to prioritize tasks
- Work Experience: This position is entry level. It’s a great opportunity for any motivated development student who wishes to gain practical development experiences.
- Location: Since you will be working in a workshop environment with real hardware, this is primarily an on-site position.
Where you belong
At Strategic Projects, as part of the Chief Technology Office, we are driving forward Research & Innovation development excellence by creating cutting-edge solutions, especially for strategic CTO topics, and implementing novel and strategically relevant solutions e. g projects with a strong focus on implementing innovation in enterprise learning. In addition, we prepare and support major SAP CTO keynotes, provide expertise and develop proof-of-concepts for strategic technology topics. Our team consists of about 50 colleagues who are students, young professionals, and experienced professionals in the areas of software development, design, project management and team/management assistance. We work in teams that are mainly located in Potsdam/Berlin and Walldorf and collaborate closely with other SAP teams to realize our mission.
