Job Description

Company Description

Meet Your Team

You'll join the CX Order Management Services team, a cloud-native engineering group building the backbone of SAP's commerce fulfillment ecosystem. We ship features that directly impact how global enterprise customers manage orders at scale. In our team, we value technical craftsmanship, open feedback, and have a people-first culture. Our environment is safe to let people be themselves and leverage their strengths. This high-performance and dynamic environment is assured to provide rich opportunities for learning and growing.

You will join a new team focused on building and maintaining the core of our OMS product from common backend services to CI/CD, you will get to collaborate with all the teams in the group and a wide variety of tasks.

Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Software Developer who embrace AI-assisted software development as part of their everyday engineering practice to join our engineering team. The SAP Customer Experience – Order Management Services (SAP CX OMS) unit builds and maintains cloud-native microservices. These services help manage the order lifecycle. They work closely with SAP Commerce Cloud and SAP S/4HANA. You'll work in a collaborative, agile team where quality engineering and customer impact go hand in hand.

What You'll Do

You'll design, develop, and maintain production-grade AI-enabled features and services, with a focus on scalability and reliability. LLM integration and basic RAG workflows, including prompt management and response validation, are part of your core work. You'll build and improve evaluation and benchmarking pipelines to measure AI output quality and system performance. Application health, latency, throughput, and system efficiency are areas you'll actively monitor and improve. Debugging and resolving production issues, contributing to incident analysis, and implementing stability fixes are all expected. You'll support and enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows. Cross-functional collaboration to refine requirements and improve system design is a regular expectation.

You will use AI-powered development tools to accelerate software delivery. From comprehending requirements and exploring designs to generating code, creating tests, debugging, documenting, and improving existing services.

  • Participate into the design, development, and testing of complex, scalable and performant cloud-native microservices for SAP's Order Management platform
  • Participate in full-sprint cycles: refinement, development, code review, and deployment
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and apply DevOps practices to automate build, test, deployment, and operational processes (SAP BTP, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions)
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, product managers and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Monitor application health, performance, and reliability and proactively address issues. Troubleshoot complex production issues across application, integration, and infrastructure layers; drive root cause analysis and permanent fixes
  • Support technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
  • Use AI-assisted development tools every day. These tools help to hasten development. They also maintain high standards for architecture, security, performance, reliability, and maintainability. Review, validate, test, and improve AI-generated code rather than blindly accepting it

What You Bring

You have strong coding and debugging skills and hands-on experience building and operating cloud-based microservices. A solid understanding of APIs, distributed systems basics, and CI/CD practices is required. Experience with AI/LLM workflows, including prompt design, basic RAG patterns, and integrating AI services into applications, is important. Familiarity with observability (logging, metrics, tracing), performance tuning, and system monitoring is expected. An ownership mindset, combined with experience in testing, validation, and troubleshooting production systems, will set you up to contribute well.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
  • 2-5 years of professional software development experience
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar in a professional setting. Practical fluency with AI developer tools across the full SDLC (design, coding, testing, observability) and awareness of the limitations and costs
  • Solid proficiency in Java; experience with Spring Boot preferred and hands-on experience with REST API design, event-driven APIs and asynchronous messaging (Kafka, or similar)
  • Good knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, microservices architecture, cloud design patterns, and clean code
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases
  • Comfortable working in an agile/scrum environment
  • Well-developed communication skills; able to work across distributed, cross-functional teams

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of OMS domain concepts (order capture, fulfillment, ATP, returns)
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools
  • Knowledge with cloud platforms — SAP BTP and Azure

How You Work

You'll own features and modules end-to-end and work closely with product, data, platform, and AI teams to align on goals and deliver quality results. This team values direct communication, shared accountability, and continuous improvement. You'll participate in code reviews, share technical knowledge, and help build team capabilities as you develop deeper expertise in AI-native application development.

  • You take ownership of what you build, including its quality and operation in production
  • You are curious, continuously learning, and comfortable working with new technologies
  • You believe automation should eliminate repetitive work and improve quality
  • You collaborate openly and enjoy solving complex problems with others
  • You are sensible: you can balance technical excellence with customer and business priorities
  • You care about delivering software that is reliable, secure, scalable, and easy to maintain
  • You are comfortable doing AI-native development while applying solid engineering judgment and quality standards
