What you`ll do:

At SAP Sovereign Cloud Technology & Delivery, we are defining the future of deploying and operating SAP cloud solutions on sovereign cloud infrastructure for public sector and highly regulated industries – with unparalleled security, compliance, and scale.

This is where innovation meets execution – and we are looking for a stellar Senior DevOps Engineer to be part of our journey.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you play a vital role in the Product Enablement team within SAP Sovereign Cloud. Your contributions to Sovereign Cloud will be pivotal in automating, scaling, and maintaining our cloud operations at an exemplary level. You will work closely with technical product managers, engineers, security professionals, SAP product team members, and operations teams. You will have the opportunity to solve the intricate Sovereign Cloud challenges of scale and security, while using your skills to deploy applications.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Build out and manage deployment environments for new SAP products in the SAP Sovereign Cloud portfolio.
  • Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Develop and maintain automated deployment scripts and pipelines using CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD, Concourse, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
  • Guide deployments in SAP Sovereign Cloud, focusing on creating and maintaining resilient cloud solutions.
  • Offer high-level technical support and troubleshooting assistance to Sovereign Cloud regional teams, including demonstrations and upskilling on deploying and managing cloud services.
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Share knowledge and expertise in DevOps practices, tools, and SAP product deployments.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in DevOps and SAP product deployments.

What you bring:

  • 6+ years in professional software development or cloud services
  • 5+ years of experience with DevOps
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Demonstrated experience Ansible, AWS, Azure, GCP or SAP Cloud Infrastructure (SCI)
  • In-depth experience in technologies used for deploying and managing Cloud-native applications:

    • Helm charts
    • Repository management e.g. Artifactory (preferred), JFrog (preferred)
    • Service management tools e.g. Consul (preferred), Zookeeper
    • API Management tools e.g. Apigee (preferred)
  • Experience in setting up, managing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Python, Go, Powershell, and/or Bash
  • Familiarity with GitLab and/or GitHub
  • Security best practices including hardened containers and images (STIG)
  • Experience with Security tools e.g. Hashicorp Vault (preferred), GitHub Secrets
  • Database knowledge like SAP HANA
  • With your quality-aware mindset, you are able to proactively forge the path forward, innovatively solve any technical challenges, and strongly collaborate with other team members across the whole organization.
  • You are fluent in English – both verbal and written
  • Strong methodological and conceptual skills paired with analytical thinking
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High cultural awareness and intercultural competencies
  • Persistence, self-motivation and willingness to work under pressure
