What you will build

• Text Annotation & Labeling: Perform advanced, multi-layer annotation on a variety of English texts (e.g., news articles, scientific abstracts, financial reports) according to detailed project guidelines.

• Quality Assurance: Maintain the highest standards of consistency and accuracy in all annotations. Participate in iterative review sessions to calibrate with the team and refine annotation guidelines.

• Tool Proficiency: Quickly learn and effectively utilize our proprietary or industry-standard text annotation platforms (e.g., Prodigy, Label Studio, Brat).

• Issue Reporting: Proactively identify and document challenging or ambiguous cases in the data, contributing to the continuous improvement of our annotation schema.

What you bring

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computational Linguistics, Linguistics, English or a related field

• Commitment of 5 days per week for at least 6-month internship onsite

• Exceptional reading comprehension and attention to detail.

• Native or near-native proficiency in English.

Nice-to-Have:

• TEM8 highly preferred.

• Additional language in German, French highly preferred.

• Prior experience with text annotation, data labeling, or linguistic analysis, even in an academic setting.

• Basic understanding of the concepts of Named Entity Recognition, Coreference, and Semantic Relations is a big advantage.

• Basic knowledge of Python or scripting is a plus, but not required.

Within the team, we have PhD researchers, algorithm developers, data scientists, and system engineers to build the next generation of data platform and help enterprise customers to utilize machine learning & data science algorithms on enterprise data.

With this position you may gain:

• Hands-on experience with the foundational tasks of modern NLP and knowledge base construction.

• Deepen your practical understanding of linguistic phenomena and the challenges of making them machine-readable.
