Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you’ll build

As Product Owner of the Piper team, you transform ideas and strategy into scalable, high‑impact outcomes by ensuring Piper continues to power a world‑class developer experience at SAP scale.

You will be the voice of the team in SAFe PI Planning, Hyperspace organizational initiatives, and cross‑organizational forums, working hand‑in‑hand with Product Managers and the Delivery Unit Lead to align priorities, scope, and outcomes.

Working with a distributed, multicultural team, you lead by example—creating focus, fostering ownership, and enabling continuous improvement.

If you’re curious about how AI, automation, and data‑driven insights can make products smarter and teams more effective, you’ll have the space and support to turn that curiosity into reality.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Piper team in SAFe PI Plannings, Hyperspace initiatives, and key organizational forums
  • Drive alignment with Product Management and leadership on priorities, scope, and outcomes
  • Translate user needs and strategic goals into clear, actionable product direction
  • Build deep understanding of the Piper framework’s technical foundations to guide sound decisions
  • Own and evolve the product vision and roadmap, including opportunities for automation and AI adoption
  • Encourage strong cross‑team collaboration to maximize impact and reduce dependencies
  • Grow the team by mentoring junior colleagues and enabling senior members to lead and innovate
  • Act as a trusted advocate for users and stakeholders, turning feedback into measurable improvements

What you bring

You combine technical depth, product thinking, and leadership maturity. You’re comfortable navigating complexity, making tough trade‑offs, and helping teams stay focused on what truly matters.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in the software industry, ideally within large‑scale or enterprise environments
  • Experience as a Product Owner or in a comparable product role (strong advantage)
  • Hands‑on background in software development, including CI/CD pipelines and orchestration tools
  • Strong Agile mindset with real‑world experience in Scrum and/or SAFe
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Proven ability to bridge business goals and technical realities
  • Confident decision‑maker who can balance priorities and drive results

Nice to have (Not a Must)

  • Curiosity and openness toward AI‑assisted product development
  • Practical experience using AI tools for refinement, analysis, automation, or productivity
  • Ability to distinguish meaningful AI use cases from hype
  • Willingness to experiment responsibly and challenge existing ways of working

What sets you apart

You’re results‑driven, resilient, and deeply committed to quality and customer success. You lead with empathy, earn trust through clarity, and create environments where people—and products—can thrive.

Where you belong

The multicultural Piper team is part of SAP’s internal Development Platform, Hyperspace, delivering a world‑class developer experience to more than 50,000 internal users.

The Piper framework is widely adopted across SAP, supporting over 14,000 GitHub repositories and enabling teams to ship SAP’s non‑ABAP products to customers securely, compliantly, and efficiently—at global scale.
