What You'll Build

As a Platform Engineering Lead / Development Manager, you will lead an empowered team of around 10 engineers responsible for the Edge Integration Cell, a strategic platform extending SAP Integration capabilities beyond the cloud to edge environments through a highly efficient, low-footprint architecture.

You will combine people leadership, technical expertise, and AI-driven engineering practices to build innovative integration services, accelerate developer productivity, and drive engineering excellence.

In this role, you will:

• Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of your team's products, ensuring excellence in execution, quality, reliability, and operational maturity.
• Drive the adoption of AI-powered engineering practices, including agentic development tools, specification-driven workflows, intelligent automation, and AI-assisted quality engineering.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, UX, Architects, and peer engineering teams within an Empowered Product Team (EPT) to deliver customer-centric outcomes.
• Translate strategic business objectives into clear engineering priorities, roadmaps, and actionable backlogs.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, design reviews, and hands-on guidance for complex engineering challenges.
• Build secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable platform services that advance SAP's integration strategy.
• Continuously improve usability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency across the product landscape.
• Coach and mentor engineers, helping them grow their careers while building the next generation of technical leaders.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or cloud-native product development, including people leadership responsibilities.
• Proven track record of building products and services across the full software development lifecycle, including cloud and hybrid environments, deep understanding of platform engineering, CI/CD, automation, and AI-assisted software development practices.
• Strong technical credibility with the ability to contribute to architecture decisions, technical strategy, and engineering trade-offs.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to align diverse teams around a shared vision and to translate business requirements into engineering execution plans.
• Ability to manage program-level complexity, tracking cross-cutting obligations including security controls, product standards, and regulatory requirements such as EU data protection and maintaining delivery transparency across stakeholders and leadership.
• Experience establishing and governing engineering quality processes, quality gates, testing strategies, and non-functional acceptance criteria, ensuring consistent delivery of reliable, maintainable software.
• Passion for coaching and developing people while creating an inclusive and high-performing team culture.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
