Platform Engineer for SAP Business AI Platform - Unified Customer Landscape
Job Description
We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
This profile reflects the mission, technologies, and growth opportunities of the Unified Customer Landscape team within SAP Business AI Platform. You'll design, build, and evolve scalable, secure, and reliable platform capabilities that enable enterprise applications, AI services, and intelligent agents to discover, connect, and collaborate across SAP. You'll work across the full innovation lifecycle - from researching emerging technologies and validating ideas through prototypes to delivering production-grade features, automation, and operational excellence at scale.
What you'll bring:
You have hands-on experience building cloud-native services and distributed systems using modern programming languages such as Go, Java, C/C++, C#, or Node.js. You're comfortable working with APIs, concurrent programming models, containerized environments, and the technologies that power scalable enterprise platforms.
A strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, system reliability, observability, and automation is expected. Experience with cloud platforms, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices is highly valued. You are curious about emerging technologies and enjoy learning new concepts, whether that's AI-assisted development, intelligent automation, agent-based systems, or metadata-driven integration patterns.
You communicate effectively in collaborative environments, take ownership of your work, and enjoy solving complex technical challenges that span multiple services and technologies.
What you'll build:
You'll help design, build, and operate the core services behind SAP Business AI Platform's Unified Customer Landscape (UCL), a foundational platform capability that enables SAP applications, AI agents, platform services, partner solutions, and external systems to discover, connect, and work together seamlessly.
You'll develop API-first backend services that collect, manage, and expose metadata about customer landscapes, enterprise applications, integrations, and AI-enabled services. These capabilities provide the foundation for intelligent connectivity, automated discovery, security configuration exchange, and large-scale integration across SAP's cloud portfolio.
Working across the full software lifecycle, you'll contribute to architecture discussions, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations. You'll help improve reliability, scalability, and developer productivity through automation, observability, and modern engineering practices. As SAP continues to expand its AI and agentic platform capabilities, you'll contribute to platform services that support intelligent automation, AI-driven enterprise scenarios, and the next generation of business applications.
Where you belong:
You'll join a team building strategic platform capabilities at the center of SAP's Business AI Platform. The team develops cloud-native services based on microservice architectures running on Kubernetes across leading cloud environments, helping create the platform foundation for SAP's AI, agentic, and intelligent automation initiatives.
At the T3 level, you're expected to own significant platform capabilities and understand how they fit into the broader platform strategy. You'll collaborate across engineering, architecture, product, and operations teams to solve complex technical challenges, influence platform evolution, and deliver capabilities that enable applications, AI services, and intelligent agents across SAP. Beyond implementation, you'll help drive engineering standards, contribute to architectural direction, foster knowledge sharing, and continuously improve the developer and platform experience.
If you want to influence how platform capabilities evolve, work with modern cloud and AI technologies, and help shape the foundations that enable applications, AI services, and intelligent agents across SAP, this is where you'll make a broad and lasting impact.
Skills used in this role include: Go development, distributed systems, cloud architecture, API design, microservices, Kubernetes, observability, test automation, scalability engineering, AI-assisted engineering, agentic AI, metadata-driven integration, intelligent automation, cloud-native development, CI/CD, AI output quality assurance, AI-assisted automation and prototyping, AI adoption capability.
