Summary:
We are looking for a Backend Developer with solid experience in Java and Spring Boot to contribute to GreenToken. You will work on a modern microservices platform, building APIs and event-driven pipelines that enable companies to trace and exchange standardized sustainable material claims across their value chains using mass balance and chain-of-custody methodologies. This role is ideal for a developer who can work with growing autonomy, take ownership of well-defined features, and grow alongside a team of experienced engineers.
The Role: As a Backend Developer on the GreenToken team, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of backend services within our domain-driven architecture. You will collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams to deliver RESTful APIs, microservices, and data processing pipelines. Day-to-day, you will write clean, maintainable code across the full service layer, participate in code reviews, contribute to automated testing strategies, and work iteratively in a Scrum team. You will also gain hands-on experience with SAP-specific technologies and our multi-tenant supply chain data model.
Role Requirements:
- Solid programming skills in Java and Spring Boot, with a good understanding of OOP and design principles
- 2 to 5 years of experience in backend development
- Practical knowledge of RESTful API design and microservices architecture
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases (MongoDB experience is a plus; we are actively migrating to SAP HANA)
- Ability to take ownership of features end-to-end, from implementation through testing and deployment
- Experience with version control using Git
- Comfortable working in an agile environment using Scrum methodology
- Knowledge of security best practices in backend development
What we consider beneficial:
- Experience with SAP BTP, CloudFoundry, or other cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure)
- Familiarity with SAP CAP (CDS models, generated DAOs) or similar code-generation/ORM frameworks
- Knowledge of Gradle multi-module project builds
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ
- Exposure to multi-tenancy patterns or supply chain / sustainability domains
- A passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry trends
