As part of this mission, we are seeking a Back-End / Full Stack Developer to help build services on top of our Internal Developer Platform, Hyperspace—the default entry point for 50,000 SAP developers.

As a software developer, you will be part of the empowered product team “Developer Insights,” consisting of a Product Owner, Scrum Master, UX designer, architect, and several developers. This team aims to enable SAP’s product development teams to make data-driven decisions in order improve their software delivery efficiency. By delivering insights for developers we create strong purpose and high commitment in our team. We are looking for someone who shares our mission to make the developer experience exceptional and Hyperspace the best internal platform for developers.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement metrics such as DORA and flow metrics, as well as other developer insights, within the Hyperspace Portal

• Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle—from ideation and development to operations and support (with a focus on development)

• Support the team in defining concepts, conducting technical evaluations, and providing effort estimations

• Work with event-driven architectures and message queues

• Deploy and operate services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes (K8s)

• Integrate with tools such as GitHub and Jira to enable seamless developer workflows

• Improve service reliability, performance, and observability

• Mentor and support fellow developers while promoting engineering best practices

• Apply context engineering principles to ensure AI-assisted workflows are relevant, accurate, and efficient

• Evaluate and enhance the quality of AI-generated outputs in automated compliance checks and developer workflows

• Explore and implement agentic AI approaches to improve daily engineering tasks, automation, and decision-making

• Participate in hackathons to showcase the value of new ideas.

• Engage in SAP developer communities.

What you bring

• Degree in Computer Science or solid experience in software development

• Strong Go programming skills and software engineering practices

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native/container technologies

• Strong understanding of relational database concepts and hands-on experience with database architecture and design

• Good understanding of event-driven architecture

• Experience with Angular/TypeScript is a plus

• Agile/Scrum background and a quality-first mindset

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal

• Collaborative, proactive problem-solver with strong analytical thinking

• AI mindset: practical use of AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) to improve productivity, code quality, and continuous learning

• Strong interest in AI-driven development practices and adoption

• Understanding of prompt design, context management, and AI-assisted engineering workflows

• Ability to critically evaluate and refine AI-generated outputs

It’s fine if your experience is primarily in back-end development, but you should be interested in learning and working across the full stack.
