What you'll do:

• AI-First Architecture: Define SAP's strategy for AI-native enterprise applications, establishing patterns for generative AI, machine learning operations, and intelligent automation across the entire procurement ecosystem.
• BTP Platform Evolution: Influence the roadmap and architecture of SAP's Business Technology Platform, driving innovation in areas like AI services, integration patterns, and developer experience improvements.
• Next-Generation Delivery: Pioneer the future of enterprise software delivery through advanced continuous delivery, automated experimentation, and AI-powered deployment optimization across global SAP operations.
• Intelligent Development: Shape SAP's developer experience strategy, including AI-assisted development tools, automated code generation, and intelligent development workflow optimization.
• Enterprise AI Integration: Establish architectural patterns for responsible AI integration in enterprise contexts, including governance, explainability, and compliance frameworks.
• Global Platform Standards: Define enterprise architecture standards that leverage BTP's capabilities while ensuring security, compliance, and performance at global scale.
• Innovation Acceleration: Drive SAP's competitive advantage through strategic technology adoption, platform capabilities, and development practices that differentiate SAP in the enterprise market.
• Industry Transformation: Represent SAP's technical vision in industry forums, influencing the future direction of enterprise software architecture and development practices.
• Technical Complexity: Enterprise AI strategy, platform evolution, industry-leading development practices
• Ownership: Portfolio-level technical strategy with responsibility for SAP's competitive technical advantage
• Mentoring: Develops organizational capabilities in AI, modern practices, and platform thinking across multiple engineering organizations
• Cross-team Collaboration: Influences company-wide technical strategy and partners with product leadership and customer executives
• System Design: Defines SAP's enterprise architecture strategy and influences industry standards
• Experience: 10-15+ years with 8+ years in architectural leadership, with deep expertise in AI, platform development, and modern practices

What you'll bring:

• Strategic Technology Leadership:
  • Enterprise Java Expertise: Mastery of enterprise Java ecosystem, Spring portfolio, and large-scale application architecture
  • Technology Strategy: Proven ability to evaluate and adopt new technologies across multiple programming paradigms and platforms
• Enterprise Integration Mastery:
  • Deep expertise in enterprise data architecture, distributed databases, and data governance at scale
  • Advanced knowledge of integration standards (OData, SOAP, REST, GraphQL) and enterprise integration patterns
  • Experience with enterprise protocols, messaging systems, and real-time data processing architectures
• Platform Architecture:
  • Extensive experience designing platform-as-a-service solutions and multi-tenant enterprise applications
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, service mesh, and global-scale distributed systems
  • Experience with enterprise integration platforms, API management, and developer platform design
• AI & Modern Practices:
  • (Nice to have) Strategic experience integrating AI/ML into enterprise applications and development workflows
  • Leadership in advanced DevOps practices, continuous delivery, and modern development methodologies at enterprise scale
• Industry Influence: Proven track record of representing technical vision externally, contributing to industry standards, and influencing technology adoption across large organizations

About the team:

You'll join the SAP Procurement Engineering organization within our Intelligent Spend Management group, contributing to transforming how enterprises manage their procurement processes.

Your Authority: You'll influence technical decisions across the entire procurement portfolio, working directly with senior engineering leadership and product executives to shape SAP's procurement technology strategy.

Your Legacy: Your architectural vision will define how enterprises manage procurement for the next decade, impacting millions of users and billions of dollars in global enterprise spend.
