Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

About SAP Fieldglass

SAP Fieldglass is a cloud-based, market-leading Vendor Management System (VMS) that helps global organizations manage their external workforce — contingent workers, freelancers, and services procurement. It streamlines the full lifecycle from requisition and onboarding to time tracking, invoicing, and offboarding, delivering real-time visibility, compliance, and control across external talent programs worldwide.

What You'll Do

As a Developer on the SAP Fieldglass team, you will design, develop, and maintain production-grade software modules and components with AI enabled features and services that power one of the world's leading workforce management platforms.

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java-based features and services for the SAP Fieldglass application, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Integrate LLMs and implement basic RAG workflows, including prompt management and response validation.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, platform engineers, and customer success teams to refine requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Build, enhance, and support RESTful APIs and integrations using SOAP Web Services, XML, and JSON to enable seamless interoperability across the platform.
  • Build and enhance evaluation and benchmarking pipelines to measure AI output quality and system performance.
  • Monitor application health using logs, metrics, and tracing, and proactively improve latency, throughput, and system efficiency.
  • Debug and resolve production issues, contribute to incident analysis, and implement fixes to improve system stability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer-reported issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable fixes to improve platform stability.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows to ensure secure, consistent, and high-quality software releases.
  • Become a subject-matter expert in the SAP Fieldglass services procurement application and proactively contribute ideas for product improvements.
  • Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and Agile ceremonies to strengthen team capabilities and delivery quality.

What You Bring

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Java / J2EE application development.
  • Bring strong coding and debugging skills with hands-on experience in building and operating cloud-based microservices.
  • You should have a solid understanding of APIs, distributed systems basics, and CI/CD practices.
  • Good working knowledge of relational databases, SQL Server, and ORM technologies.
  • Experience with AI/LLM workflows, including prompt design, basic RAG patterns, and integrating AI services into applications, is important.
  • Familiarity with observability (logging, metrics, tracing), performance tuning, and system monitoring is expected.
  • An ownership mindset, combined with experience in testing, validation, and troubleshooting production systems, will enable you to contribute effectively to scalable, reliable AI-enabled applications.
  • Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies with a track record of delivering in iterative development cycles.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with SAP Fieldglass or other VMS / procurement platforms.
  • Familiarity with observability tooling — logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
  • Exposure to cloud-based microservices architecture.

What We Value

  • Ownership Mindset — you take end-to-end responsibility for your features from design to production.
  • Problem-Solving Ability — strong analytical skills with a track record of translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Quality Focus — dedication to producing accurate, well-tested, production-ready software.
  • Collaboration — ability to work cross-functionally with product, design, platform, and customer-facing teams.
  • Continuous Improvement — self-motivated, results-oriented, and proactive about learning and sharing knowledge.

Where You Belong

You will work within a fast-paced, collaborative engineering team delivering one of SAP's flagship cloud products. You will take ownership of meaningful features, work closely with product and platform teams to solve real problems at scale, and grow your expertise in enterprise-grade workforce management technology. We value psychological safety, inclusivity, and a culture of continuous learning.
