Where You Belong

Within the Customer Services and Delivery (CS&D) board area, the mission of the Global Cloud Operations (GCO) organization is to run and operate SAP’s private cloud offering. Isolated private cloud landscapes are built for customers both in SAP owned datacenter as well as on IaaS infrastructure provided by Hyper-Scalers like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services (AWS). Services are delivered from all regions (EME/AME/APJ) having a strong international focus and cultural diversity.

As part of GCO Delivery Technical Operations the Database Services Team is responsible for enabling Database Technologies and operating them at maximum efficiency. Beside project delivery and day to day administration we are part of strategic pilot projects for new technologies as reference for other customers. Teams provides stable operational support for customer Database landscapes for their critical business systems.

For our Delivery Centers, we are looking for an IT Technology Services Expert with a strong technical background for supporting critical projects & administration in the Global Cloud Operations Delivery environment. Beside administration we are part of pilot projects for new technologies as reference for SAP customers.

What You'll Build

You will be responsible to drive continuous improvement in order to increase operation, availability and efficiency. Infrastructure landscape re-architecture and new technology adoption is another important part. Global thinking and a strong customer focus are essential within the new Enterprise Cloud Services program.

Your role will be with the Center of Excellence teams comprising Database Administrator driving critical topics related to Incident Management, Problem Management, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Backup & Restore among other operational tasks.

As a Senior Database Consultant, you will be responsible for the database operations, collaborate with virtual teams for day-to-day operations and drive projects.

• You will be acting as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for Database topics (High Availability/ Backup and Recovery/ Performance Troubleshooting/ Upgrade (Automation)/ Security)
• You will contribute to daily operations in handling priority incidents
• Drive automation improvements for the topics that you own as SME
• Internal stakeholder alignment for bringing enhancements on the topics
• Work on pattern analysis for continous improvements
• Support escalated customers
• Contribute to DB on-calls based on rotation during APJ on-call shift hours.
• Share technical knowledge within the team to bring improvements.

WHAT YOU BRING:

• In-depth knowledge of a Database (SAP HANA/ ASE) architecture, Troubleshooting and Performance management.
• Good knowledge in SUSE Linux, RHEL (beneficial)
• Exposure to automation tools/ scripting or processes
• Very strong experience in DB operations (HANA/ ASE),
• Experience in handling customer escalations.
• Strong understanding of all critical activities in Database
• Experience in handling operational on-call.

Must Have Requirements

• 8 + years in customer experience and operational roles, with experience in handling incidents and service requests.
• Extensive knowledge of SAP HANA/ Sybase ASE Architecture, and good expertise on Linux.
• Good experience in High availability (HSR), Backup and Recovery, Database admin operations like table distribution, partitioning, upgrade etc.
• Troubleshooting performance issues and tuning SQL queries during performance regressions.
• Very good working knowledge on both Scale-up and Scale-out customer landscapes.
• Understanding of Database security concepts.
• Good Troubleshooting skills on Database level in SAP HANA, ASE.
• Excellent communication skills (in English)
• Professional training and certification (C_HANATEC or equivalent), having certification on any Hyperscaler is beneficial.
