Meet The Team: Customer Solutions & Integrations Engineering (CSIE)
Customer Solutions & Integrations Engineering (CSIE) is a core function within Cloud Observability, responsible for driving adoption, customer success, and end-to-end solution delivery across the Cloud Observability Suite. CSIE acts as the bridge between customers, product management, engineering, and operations, translating business requirements into technical solutions and ensuring observability services deliver measurable operational value.
The team provides customer enablement, technical consulting, integration engineering, and centralized post-support functions. CSIE designs, builds, and maintains integrations that enable cross-Line-of-Business and infrastructure telemetry correlation and supports services such as OctoBus, MoM, Alerting Framework, MoM-AI, CaaS, and OctoRoute. Through these activities, CSIE delivers cohesive, scalable, and reliable observability solutions aligned with SAP’s Cloud Observability strategy.
Job Summary:
As a Customer Solutions & Integrations Engineer, you will deliver end-to-end Cloud Observability solutions by combining hands-on integration engineering with customer onboarding, enablement, and post-support. The role requires close collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful adoption and sustained usage of observability services.
In CSIE, you will own customer-facing technical consulting, working directly with internal consumers (Line of Business teams, product teams, and platform teams) to design, explain, implement, and support observability solutions—not just deliver code or react to tickets. The role requires owning the customer journey from initial onboarding through steady-state operations, especially for CaaS and OctoRoute, which are SAP-wide telemetry standards.
As CSIE Engineer, you are expected to embrace AI as part of everyday work, actively contribute ideas for impactful AI-enabled improvements, and apply sound judgment to identify and phase out AI usage scenarios that are inefficient or low value.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead customer onboarding and technical enablement for Cloud Observability services.
· Design, build, and maintain telemetry and observability integrations.
· Translate customer and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
· Provide centralized post-support and support go-live readiness activities, including operational readiness, dry runs, hypercare coordination, and requester sign-off.
· Support production operations by participating in scheduled on-call rotations, responding to CloudObs Issues, and ensuring timely resolution of operational problems.
· Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and DevOps teams.
· Deliver customer onboarding, configuration, and best-practice consulting for cloud observability services, including telemetry ingestion, transformation, routing, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch configurations using YAML-based files.
· Validate post-update and post-deploy results in different cloud environments, ensuring operational readiness with valid requester sign-off.
· Validate end-to-end telemetry routing, filtering, and enrichment.
· Support ETL processes for observability data, including data ingestion, transformation, enrichment, filtering, and routing using Logstash or other available data-processing tools.
· Create and maintain technical documentation and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure knowledge sharing and operational excellence.
· Manage Request Items and tasks in ServiceNow and Jira for project tracking.
· Actively communicate across different teams to report major failures.
· Analyze data through OpenSearch when required by daily duties.
Requirements for the Role:
· Production support experience, including hands-on participation in on-call rotations, incident response, and Hypercare, with willingness to participate in scheduled on-call duties.
· Ability to debug issues across distributed services, pipelines, and environments.
· Experience with observability backends, alerting, dashboards, and high-volume telemetry data.
· Strong collaboration skills and modern engineering practices, such as iterative and feedback-driven development.
· Ability to quickly learn new tools and processes in fast-paced environments.
· Strong technical documentation and knowledge-sharing skills.
· 3+ years of experience with Python OOP.
· 1+ year of experience with GitHub Actions.
· 1+ year of experience with Agentic AI / AI-assisted software development
· Familiarity with M365 Copilot, Claude Code, Cline, GitHub Copilot, or other AI pair-programming tools is desire
