ABOUT THE TEAM
SAP Concur is the market leader in integrated travel, expense, and invoice management, serving millions of users worldwide.
The Concur Spend Admin engineering team owns the full administration lifecycle of the Concur Spend platform — admin UI, onboarding, entity lifecycle management, and partner and implementation team support. We build the tools that administrators use to configure, monitor, and optimize their expense programs and that SAP uses to provision and manage the lifecycle of tenants. The stack includes React frontends, Java and Node.js microservices, and AI features that use large language models to assist administrators. We ship to production frequently and operate what we build.
We are building a new team in São Leopoldo, RS, Brazil. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the culture and practices of a team from day one.
THE ROLE
As a Developer on the Concur Spend team in São Leopoldo, you will build product features used by millions of people. You will work across our service stack — React/TypeScript frontends, Java/Spring Boot and Node.js backends, and AWS infrastructure. Some of our work involves AI-powered features where we integrate large language models into the product.
We deploy frequently, work in two-week sprints, and have strong engineers to learn from. Each person's contributions have a noticeable impact on real users.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
- Design, code, test, and deliver product features as part of an agile team
- Own the end-to-end stability and operation of the team's services, including on-call duties and incident resolution
- Troubleshoot performance and stability issues
- Work closely with product management and user experience, from discovery through delivery
- Collaborate with team members in Vancouver, Bellevue, and São Leopoldo across time zones
REQUIRED EXPERIENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related technical field
- The ability to solve technical computer problems by writing actual working code; this is very much a hands-on position
- Ability to work well in a team as well as independently
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Solid programming skills in Java or TypeScript
- Experience with React
- Experience with AWS and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
- Familiarity with REST API design
- Experience with SQL databases (SQL Server, MySQL)
- Interest in AI/ML tools and how they can be applied in software development
- Evidence of excellence in some capacity (could be via personal projects, open source contributions, exceptional success in some endeavor, etc.)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Experience in developing web applications or software, ideally in a team environment. Some of this experience could be in internships, co-op terms, or personal/academic projects.
