What You'll Do

As part of SAP Cloud ERP, the Quality Management team is responsible for designing and developing functions for quality management processes. Our solutions are used by almost 500 live customers in different industries to ensure high quality of their delivered products. Our main business processes cover planning inspections, capturing results and making usage decisions for inspected materials. Further processes include dealing with the resolution of issues like customer complaints.

As a software developer on the Quality Management team, you’ll contribute to features that support our end users in all quality-inspection-related business processes. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, gaining mentorship while taking on meaningful development tasks, and contributing to small to medium scoped features. You’ll also help investigate customer issues and deliver fixes that improve usability and stability. Over time, you’ll take on increasing responsibility as you grow your technical skills and product knowledge.

Your tasks include:

  • Help build and improve features that solve customer problems
  • Write clean code and contribute to small to medium scoped tasks under guidance from senior engineers, in the backend as well as in the fontend
  • Learn and apply software craftsmanship practices and coding standards
  • Write and run automated tests (unit and basic integration) and follow our CI/CD process to ensure safe, frequent releases
  • Debug and fix bugs, investigate customer-reported issues, and implement stable, user-focused solutions
  • Collaborate with product managers and UX designers to understand requirements and help deliver usable features

Our development approach is embedded is based on Scrum. You’ll have many opportunities to make a significant impact to our product and bring value to its customers.

What You Bring

  • Required Skills:
    • 2+ years of software development experience
    • Strong team player who enjoys collaborating and learning from others
    • Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn and take on new challenges
    • Creative problem-solver with attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality code
    • Good communication skills in English and German
  • Preferred Skills
    • Beginner domain knowledge in quality management or manufacturing
    • Experience with ABAP, the RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP) or Fiori/UI5 development\
    • Proficiency in modern web development with JavaScript or TypeScript
    • Experience writing and running unit tests; basic understanding of integration testing
    • Knowledge about the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud development ecosystem, including CFD (Continuous Feature Delivery), FBE (Feature-Based Engineering), and DDCI (Distributed Development and Continuous Integration)

The backend components are mainly built with ABAP and RAP whereas the UI is predominantly based on UI5 with Fiori Elements.
