As a Data Scientist within the Strategic Workforce Planning and Skills Management organization, you will analyze talent, labor, and skills market data to predict future workforce needs and identify skill gaps. You’ll develop analyses and frameworks to support SAP's transformation into a skills-led organization, create data visualizations for senior stakeholders, and collaborate with HR and business teams to drive SAP’s organizational transformation towards a skills-led company.

Key Responsibilities

· Gather data from multiple sources internally and externally (market data).

· Analyze internal and external talent, skills and labor market data to anticipate future workforce needs, identify skill gaps, and inform long-term capability strategies.

· Design and implement advanced data models, algorithms, and machine learning techniques to derive actionable insights related to workforce transformation and skills planning.

· Develop consistent, scalable methodologies and frameworks to support skills-led workforce planning, talent segmentation, and role-based scenario modeling.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., HR, business leaders, IT) to define and monitor skills KPIs aligned with strategic business priorities.

· Present complex analyses and insights through clear storytelling, dashboards, and decision-ready visualizations tailored to senior stakeholders.

· Independently lead data-driven initiatives that inform strategic talent decisions, optimize workforce composition, and enable SAP’s evolution toward a skills-based organizatio

Tasks

· Analyze and interpret internal and external workforce data to drive strategic recommendations for workforce planning and skills management.

· Design robust data models and use machine learning techniques to generate actionable insights aligned with workforce transformation goals.

· Develop scalable methodologies to support talent segmentation and long-term workforce planning initiatives.

· Collaborate with HR, business leaders, and analytics teams to implement workforce KPIs and strategies that align with organizational priorities.

· Create impactful dashboards and visualizations, enabling senior stakeholders to easily interpret insights and inform strategic decision-making.

· Lead end-to-end data analysis projects that support the transformation to a skills-led organization

Your Profile

· Proven Experience: Bring 2 to 5 years of experience in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or related fields, with demonstrated success in creating impactful insights and strategies.

· Technical Expertise: Proficient in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy, etc.) or R, with strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational databases.

· Machine Learning and AI: Advanced knowledge of machine learning algorithms, predictive modeling, and AI techniques, applied to workforce and skills data.

· Framework and Methodology Development: Ability to design scalable frameworks and tools for workforce analysis, talent segmentation, and planning initiatives.

· Collaborative Mindset: Strong interpersonal skills to partner with HR, business stakeholders, and analytics teams, fostering data-driven decision-making.

· Communication Excellence: Adept at simplifying complex analyses into clear, influential insights for diverse audiences, including senior leadership.

· Nice to Have: Familiarity with SAP Analytics Cloud, BWP, HANA, and SAP BTP is a plus

You will be an essential team member in the Skills Management Hub which is part of SAP’s People & Culture’s Organizational Growth and Health unit. The Skills Management Hub is responsible for embedding skills into core people practices and enabling a consistent, scalable approach to skills across the employee lifecycle. The team leads the governance of the global job architecture and skills frameworks, ensuring job profiles and skill expectations stay relevant and aligned with business needs. It provides skills benchmarking, analytics, and models that inform talent decisions and support adoption across the organization. By partnering with People & Culture teams, Operations teams and Business teams, the team drives the integration of skills into Talent Learning and Development, Leadership Development, and Talent Management processes— turning skills into a common language for people and talent practices.
