What you'll build :

  • The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable applications using tech stack in Java and Python. The position is structured as 80% automation engineering and 20% operational involvement, allowing you to gain first-hand insight into operational workflows and translate them into efficient, automated solutions.
  • Develop full-stack solutions across frontend and backend, applying design thinking to improve usability. Design, Build and Enhance APIs and backend services with a focus on scalability and re-usability.
  • Design, build and enhance backend services and APIs, supporting secure and reliable system integrations.
  • Implement application security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and role-based access controls.
  • Design, Build and integrate AI-driven capabilities using Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance application functionality.
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain applications on cloud platforms, ensuring stability and compliance.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues, optimizing performance and reliability.
  • Own applications end-to-end, with a product-owner mindset from design, development through deployment, documentation, and release cycles.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, influence decisions, and contribute to continuous improvement, mentorship and adoption of new technologies.

What you bring:

Must Have Skills:

  • Strong foundation in Java and Python with hands-on experience building APIs, automation, or web applications using frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, or Flask.
  • Ability to design scalable solutions and make architectural trade-offs.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and translating business needs into technical solutions.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and SQL with query optimization skills.
  • Exposure to application security concepts such as SSO and role-based access control with user access management.
  • Curious, problem-solving mindset with the ability to translate business or operational needs into technical solutions and take ownership in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry, Azure, AWS)
  • Experience working with AI implementations using Large Language Models (LLMs), SAP AI Core / OpenAI LLMs, prompt engineering, prompt templates, and structured outputs
  • Experience in writing and optimizing database queries using PostgreSQL, SQLite.

Within the Customer Success & Delivery (CS&D) division, the Global Cloud Operations - Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) Delivery team runs the HANA Enterprise Cloud and is responsible for OS, DB & SAP Apps (such as S/4 HANA) operations & support for our customers across multiple infrastructures - SAP DCs, AWS, Azure & GCP.

We are looking for an IT Technology Backend Support Specialist who will be responsible for working in the automation landscape supporting the large-scale business applications under the Enterprise Cloud Service Team infrastructure support and services along with running SAP's backend technology including operations of state-of-the-art datacenters as well as client technology around the globe.
