Job Description
Would you like to work for an organisation that is making a real difference for nature? Working in the RPSB’s Creative Production team as Video Asset Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in managing and distributing the RSPB’s video content of everything from stunning wildlife to remarkable people, and incredible places.
You’ll thrive on being busy and have great attention to detail particularly when managing large volumes of media. From maintaining digital assets and corresponding databases to taking responsibility for footage distribution within the RSPB and beyond, you’ll make sure any video assets are accessible to everyone who needs them.
You will also play a key role in video creation and curation, working with everything from historical archive to 8k digital video footage. You’ll transcode video assets, edit footage selections for customers and make promo clips to help promote the video library. You will use your editorial eye in working with teams from across the organisation, as well as external agencies and partners, to identify content that has archival value and guide it through the process of being added to the video library, ready for distribution in the future.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- An ability to work unsupervised and independently, exercising initiative and judgement.
- IT proficiency with MacOS and experience using Adobe Creative Cloud or similar.
- At least one year’s experience in using video as part of a professional role in a production environment or as a student of film/media.
- Knowledge of key video editing processes including ingesting and editing footage, as well as exporting video.
Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Knowledge of UK wildlife including identification of commons species and habitats.
- Experience working with media asset management systems or other video storage platforms.
- Experience in capturing and ingesting tape-based and file-based assets and associated metadata to a media asset management system.
- Knowledge of the process of licensing digital assets to third parties and associated terminology
This is a permanent, full-time role. The successful candidate can be based flexibly within England, and will ideally be able to to work at RSPB HQ in Bedfordshire 3 days per week.
