Job Description
Are you the person who can help us inspire the next generation of conservationists? We are looking for someone who has the knowledge and ability to engage and educate children and young people from across Teesside and County Durham about the amazing wildlife that resides at RSPB Saltholme.
We want someone who can share their passion and knowledge of local wildlife. You’ll help to deliver our high-quality and hands-on outdoor education sessions, to a range of ages and abilities from across the local area. From minibeasts to the seasons, our sessions give the opportunity to support classroom learning by giving children the chance to see wildlife in its natural habitat and showing them wildlife that’s right on their doorstep.
What's the role about?
The main focus of the role is delivering RSPB curriculum linked programmes to early years, primary, and secondary school students that encourage a connection to nature. You will help maintain teaching equipment resources and materials, as well as contributing to improving resources and sessions. You will assist with recruiting and supporting volunteers in their work with school groups.
We will train you to ensure your ability to teach meets the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge standards, which is the hallmark of quality outdoor learning sessions.
Outside of term time, you will assist the visitor experience team, by helping plan, prepare, and deliver visitor events, to support the broader site operation.

- Good level of general ecological and natural history knowledge.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and Safeguarding issues with regards to outdoor education.
