Community Engagement Officer - Greater Sedgemoor Landscape Recovery
4 days/week at home
Fully flexible hours
Dog friendly
Job Description
Are you passionate about tackling the joint nature and climate crises?
Do you want to deliver landmark, landscape-scale, environmental and social change?
About the Role
The role will help develop an innovative landscape-scale 'Landscape Recovery Scheme' across the Southern part of the Somerset Levels and Moors and maximise the project's positive social impact.
You will work closely with local communities, building relationships, problem solving, and bringing creative ideas to the table. This might mean working with groups to explore barriers to landscape connectivity, developing active travel opportunities within the landscape, organising and holding health and wellbeing events, supporting nature aligned businesses, creating social media content, or connecting with arts-based charities.
You will be part of our mission to inspire and empower people to help create a fully sustainable world where nature and all people are thriving.
Essential criteria:
- Ability to engage with communities and enthuse and motivate others.
- Basic knowledge of (or ability to develop) an enthusiasm for wildlife.
- Ability to communicate, collaborate and negotiate.
- Ability to work in a partnership.
- Ability to contribute to building collaborative, motivated and resilient teams.
- Commitment to RSPB's Values (Courage, Clarity, Collaboration, Connection) and equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
Not sure you meet all the criteria? Let us decide! Research shows that women and members of under-represented groups tend not to apply to jobs when they think they may not meet every criteria, when, in fact, they may be the best candidate.
Additional Information
This role is a part time (30 hours/week) fixed-term contract to 31st March 2026. The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
To apply, you will be required to complete an application form where you will be able to explain how you meet the criteria set above.
