Position Summary
The Project Manager is accountable for the successful execution and delivery of customer projects in Malaysia, from contract award through commissioning, handover, and project close-out. Acting as the primary customer interface, the Project Manager ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while maintaining strong customer relationships and driving business excellence.
The role requires close collaboration with regional execution teams, engineering, sales, procurement, service teams, suppliers, and customers to achieve project objectives while upholding Rolls-Royce's values, governance, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities


1.Project Leadership & Customer Management
•Serve as the primary customer representative throughout the project lifecycle, from contract award to final project handover.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, general contractors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
•Manage customer expectations through proactive communication, transparency, and timely resolution of issues.
•Lead customer meetings, project reviews, and progress updates to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
•Represent Rolls-Royce professionally during all customer interactions and site activities.


2.Project Planning & Execution
•Develop, execute, and monitor comprehensive project execution plans to ensure successful project delivery.
•Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, technical, and quality requirements.
•Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, commissioning, and service functions.
•Monitor project progress, identify deviations, and implement recovery plan where necessary.
•Drive timely decision-making and remove obstacles affecting project execution.
•Ensure all project deliverables, documentation, approvals, and contractual obligations are fulfilled.


3. Commercial & Financial Management
•Maintain accountability for project financial performance, including budget control, forecasting, cost tracking, and margin protection.
•
Review project costs regularly and implement corrective actions where required.
•Support tender reviews by providing execution input, risk assessments, project schedules, and cost estimates.
•Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
•Ensure timely management of project variations, claims, and change orders in accordance with contractual requirements.


4. Risk, Quality & HSE
•Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Rolls-Royce Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards and customer site requirements.
•Identify, assess, and manage project risks through effective mitigation planning.
•Ensure compliance with applicable Rolls-Royce quality processes, engineering standards, and customer specifications.
•Lead issue resolution activities, root cause investigations, and corrective action implementation where necessary.
•Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned across completed projects.
5. Stakeholder & Supplier Management
•Collaborate closely with APAC Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Service, and Finance teams to ensure seamless project execution.
•Coordinate local Balance of Plant (BoP) activities, suppliers, subcontractors, and installation partners.
•Ensure suppliers deliver according to agreed scope, quality, schedule, and contractual commitments.
•Support commissioning activities and coordinate resources required to achieve successful testing and customer acceptance.
•Work closely with the Site Manager and commissioning teams to ensure safe and efficient site execution.


6. Governance & Reporting
•Prepare accurate project reports, dashboards, forecasts, and executive updates for management and steering committee reviews.
•Maintain project documentation in accordance with Rolls-Royce governance requirements.
•Ensure compliance with internal project management processes, financial controls, and reporting requirements.
•Escalate project risks and issues appropriately while recommending practical solutions.


7. Leadership & Continuous Improvement
•Foster collaboration and teamwork across cross-functional and multicultural teams.
•Coach and support project team members where appropriate.
•Continuously improve project delivery through best practices, lessons learned, and process improvements.
•Support strategic business initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities assigned by management.


Qualifications & Experience
•Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
•Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification is preferred.
•Minimum five (5) years of project management experience in engineered solutions, power generation, diesel generator systems, or related industries.
•Demonstrated experience managing complex engineering projects involving multiple stakeholders.
•Proven track record of delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to customer satisfaction.
•Experience in data centre, critical power, or infrastructure projects will be an advantage.

•Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
•Fluent in English and Malay.
•Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
