Position Summary

We are looking for a Material Planner to join our team in Japan. In this role, you will serve as the key interface between Rolls-Royce and designated suppliers, ensuring seamless material availability to support production and overhaul schedules while maintaining inventory targets.

You will play a vital role in driving supplier performance, coordinating material planning activities, and supporting cross-functional collaboration to ensure our programs run efficiently and meet business objectives.

What you will be doing:

  • Serve as the primary interface between Rolls-Royce and designated suppliers for the planning and delivery of purchased components.
  • Ensure materials are available to meet production and overhaul schedules while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Lead supplier performance reviews, resolve delivery issues, and implement recovery plans as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering to support program objectives.
  • Analyze material requirements using MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to generate accurate purchase orders.
  • Monitor and track supplier schedules, lead times, and capacity to align with changing business demand.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce lead times, optimize inventory, and enhance delivery performance.
  • Support onboarding of new suppliers or parts by coordinating initial orders, planning data, and logistics setup.
  • Ensure compliance with company processes and standards, including Export Control and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies.

Position requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in planning, procurement, or supply chain roles, preferably within aerospace, automotive, or high-tech manufacturing industries.
  • Strong understanding of MRP systems (SAP or equivalent) and supply planning principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural and matrix organization.
  • Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese is required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in supplier technical assurance within aerospace or related industries.
  • Familiarity with Rolls-Royce Production System (RRPS), DMAIC, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Japanese language capability and right to work in Japan (applications without this eligibility will not be considered).

Our vision is to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that shaped our history continues into our future. Our multi-year transformation programme aims to turn Rolls-Royce into a high-performing, competitive, resilient and growing company. Join us, and it can be your future vision too.
