We’re looking for an Accounts Assistant on a permanent basis to support the organisation through its next phase of growth. Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller, you will also be working closely with the Accounts Payable team and Financial Accountants.

The role will include, but is not limited to:
- Preparing month end journals, including accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Ownership of process improvements across the finance function
- Responding to business-driven requests for financial information and reporting
- Performing quarterly audit readiness reviews to streamline the annual audit process
- Supporting implementation and management of purchase order process
- Assisting and developing new procurement process
- Reviewing and approving all transactions ensuing they are accurately coded;
- Reviewing and controlling high volumes of employee and contractor expense claims - validating if they are within policy and correctly coded, following up with correct stakeholders to ensure compliance
- Daily bank reconciliations
- Assisting with forecasted cash flows
- Assisting Purchase Ledger with complex and Ad-hoc requests
- Credit control duties: sending statements and copy invoices, chasing payments due, liaising with internal account managers, and keeping client records updated using the credit control software
- Generating age analysis and commentary
- Monthly Credit Card Reconciliation and accruals
- Assisting with and preparing VAT, GST and other Sales tax returns
- Other ad hoc responsibilities as they occur
Requirements
- Those who have or who want to start their ACCA/CIMA/AAT journey
- Intermediate level knowledge of MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Foundational understanding of expenses accounts and cost centres
- Good organisational skills
- Basic knowledge of VAT/Input & Output Tax
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
- Ability to work in a team and individually
- Ability to resolve queries and work with colleagues outside of finance
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- High integrity and objectivity
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work to strict deadline
Desirable Competencies:
- Experience with NetSuite and Expensify, would be ideal but not mandatory
- Use of Purchase Requisition/Purchase Order system
- Good understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Experience with UK VAT returns
- Experience of high-volume environment
- Experience using CSV uploads to assist with transaction posting
