About the Role

​​We put pets first. The pet care, welfare and clinical expertise of our group-wide colleagues is essential to what makes us Pets. This role forms part of a team responsible for strengthening retail colleague capability, guiding a transition towards a confident, empowered workforce who make welfare-first decisions at every interaction.

Requiring a highly specific skillset, this role blends deep veterinary and/or animal care and welfare knowledge with in-depth experience of adult education and creation of learning opportunities that create impact and behavioural change.

You will thrive in a fast-faced, project environment and bring knowledge and expertise in instructional design, content writing, assessment frameworks, workplace learning and user learning experience gained either in a commercial or academic context. Crucially, the post-holder will have a strong visual and written creative flair, capable of designing engaging resources in a range of media.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop engaging learning content, eLearning programmes and educational resources.
• Create and deliver communications that promote learning opportunities and drive colleague engagement.
• Build structured curricula aligned to capability frameworks, learning pathways and business needs.
• Apply instructional design expertise to create impactful, learner-focused development solutions.
• Ensure all learning content is accurate, evidence-based, inclusive and aligned to welfare and brand standards.
• Use digital tools and innovative approaches to create accessible, scalable learning experiences.
• Monitor learner feedback, engagement and performance data to continuously improve programmes.
• Partner with stakeholders to create high-quality content that supports colleague development and capability growth.
• Develop engaging multimedia content for educational, outreach and wider business initiatives.
• Champion a culture of continuous learning and actively promote development across the business.

About You

Educational Qualifications

Essential

• Animal or welfare related qualification at level 3 or above, AND
• Relevant qualification in adult education and training at Level 3 or above or CIPD qualified at level 3 or above.

​​Experience, Knowledge & Expertise – Essential

• Strong knowledge of animal health, welfare and pet care.
• Experience designing engaging learning programmes, curricula and assessments.
• Skilled in instructional design, adult learning principles and behaviour change.
• Confident using LMS platforms, digital learning tools and learning technologies.
• Strong content creation and communication skills across written, visual and multimedia formats.
• Able to create inclusive, learner-centred experiences for diverse audiences.
• Experience evaluating learning effectiveness through feedback, insight and data.
• Well organised, with strong attention to detail and content governance skills

Desirable

• Experience operating in a commercial, clinical and/or regulated environment
• Experience in train-the-trainer programme development
