Overview
Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + 10% performance bonus
Working Location: Milton Keynes / Hybrid
Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent
What you’ll be doing
The successful applicant will evaluate structural claims (superstructure and substructure) for individual and multi-occupancy low and high-rise residential buildings to determine whether a defect exists and determine the mode of failure. This will include investigating defects, assessing compliance with building regulations, standards and codes of practice, and by reviewing technical reports from internal and external sources.
Additionally, you will review remediation work scheme proposals, to ensure repairs are specified correctly. Responsibilities also include instructing and managing consultants, liaising with technical representatives from other departments and builders, and contributing to technical policy development.
Responsibilities
What we’re looking for
- Experience of structural design and forensic assessment structures for residential buildings (individual buildings, low-rise and high-rise).
- Proven design experience of both traditional and modern materials and construction products, systems and technologies.
- Technical report writing to a high standard
- Critical thinking and problem solving withing a construction environment
- Substantial experience within civil/structural engineering sectors
- A thorough understanding of engineering first principles
- Good knowledge of site investigations associated with ground conditions, drainage, and basements
- An extensive knowledge of industry guidance (e.g. British Standards) relating to engineering disciplines
- Good explanatory and communication skills
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
