Job Description

Risk Consultant

  • Partner with stakeholders to strengthen decision-making, resilience and business performance

  • Gain broad exposure to enterprise-wide risk activity, governance and major change programmes

  • Hybrid 80% homeworking and 20% from Stratford Upon Avon

About the role

As a Risk Consultant, you'll help shape and strengthen operational risk management across NFU Mutual. Working within the Operational Risk Management team, you'll partner with stakeholders across the Group to support the effective application of our Risk Management Framework and ensure risks are identified, assessed, managed and monitored appropriately.

You'll provide expert advice and constructive challenge on operational risks, controls and risk events, helping business areas make informed decisions and operate within risk appetite. Using risk data, management information and reporting insights, you'll support governance activities, regulatory requirements and business decision-making.

The role also plays an important part in supporting major business change and transformation activity, assessing how evolving risks and controls may impact the organisation. Alongside this, you'll contribute to thematic reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, risk communications and training to help strengthen risk capability across the business.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad enterprise-wide exposure, influence how risk is managed across NFU Mutual and contribute directly to the delivery of business performance, resilience and long-term success.

This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. However, we understand how important a positive work-life balance is, so to help you give your best, we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work up to 80% of your hours from home.

About you

You're a collaborative and credible risk professional who builds strong relationships across a wide range of stakeholders and is confident providing advice, challenge and influence at all levels. With strong analytical and critical thinking skills, you're able to interpret complex information, identify key risk exposures and support effective decision-making. You communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, take a proactive approach to your work and maintain a high level of attention to detail. You'll also enjoy working as part of a team, sharing knowledge and driving continuous improvement.

To join NFU Mutual, you'll also bring:

  • Experience applying Operational Risk Management Frameworks, including risk principles, tools and techniques

  • Strong risk analysis and data interpretation capability

  • Experience producing and presenting risk reporting and management information to support governance, regulatory requirements and business decision-making

  • Ability to provide practical risk advice, constructive challenge and support to stakeholders on risk and control matters

  • Experience using risk management systems and tools to record, monitor and report risk information, alongside conducting thematic reviews and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Experience working within the insurance or financial services sector

A Risk qualification is desirable but not a pre-requisite for the role.

At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.

We recognise that some candidates may experience barriers during the recruitment process. So, we encourage candidates to discuss any adjustments or accommodations they need to be the best they can be throughout our recruitment process.

We're proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, a Race at Work and Women in Finance Charter signatory and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, gender, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background.
