Job Description

Reward Specialist

  • Play a key role in shaping and delivering Reward projects and strategic initiatives across NFU Mutual, in a 15-month fixed-term contract

  • Provide specialist Reward consultancy to HR and the wider business, building effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels and external suppliers.

  • Hybrid working: 20% attendance at our Head Office in Stratford-upon-Avon required, with up to 80% homeworking on offer.

About the role

As a Reward Specialist, you will join a specialist team that uses its technical expertise to develop, advise on and deliver an effective Total Reward Strategy. Through effective Reward consultancy, you will help HR colleagues and the wider business make informed decisions and support NFU Mutual in continuing to be a great place to work.

You will plan and lead key annual Reward activity, which may include leading on our annual pay review, bonus and benefit cycles. You will organise priorities, adapt as requirements change and take accountability for delivering accurate, high-quality outcomes to schedule.

Working with stakeholders at all levels as well as external third-party suppliers, you will communicate complex Reward information clearly, influence decisions and use sound judgement to balance evidence, business needs and regulatory considerations.

The role offers broad exposure across Reward, including data analysis, market benchmarking, project delivery, employee communications, and wider strategic initiatives. You will use data storytelling and report writing to identify trends and turn insight into practical recommendations.

You will also bring an inquisitive and improvement-focused approach, seeking to understand the wider context, asking thoughtful questions and taking the initiative to identify opportunities to strengthen Reward processes and outcomes.

About you

We are keen to hear from you if you have the below skillset:

  • You will have previous experience in a Reward role, with practical knowledge of compensation and employee benefits.

  • You will bring strong analytical capability and critical thinking, enabling you to interpret information, challenge assumptions and develop well-reasoned recommendations.

  • You will be confident using Excel at an intermediate level to analyse data, with strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate insight clearly through written, verbal and data-led storytelling.

  • You have strong stakeholder engagement skills and can build trusted relationships, influence constructively and work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels and external suppliers.

  • You will be naturally inquisitive, proactive and comfortable using your initiative to explore issues, identify improvements and move work forward.

  • You will be adaptable and comfortable working at pace, both independently and as part of a team, while maintaining quality and contributing positively to shared goals.

  • You will have experience of planning and leading projects or significant workstreams, coordinating stakeholders and delivering to agreed timescales.

  • A CIPD qualification, or a willingness and desire to work towards one, is required.

  • Experience within Financial Services or a similarly regulated industry would be highly desirable.

At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.
