Pricing Data Scientist
About the role
Working in Pricing at NFU Mutual feels genuinely different. With a clear focus on customers rather than shareholders, the team’s work has real impact, supporting local communities, protecting livelihoods and helping our UK-wide Agency Network deliver exceptional service. Our Pricing team is central to how we support our customers, and its contribution is becoming even more important. The team is at the heart of a significant transformation programme, shaping how pricing will operate in the future and supporting fair, insight-driven outcomes.
To help deliver this transformation, we’re expanding the team and creating exciting opportunities to join us at a pivotal moment. This is a chance to influence a high-profile, business-wide initiative where your expertise will be visible, valued and acted upon. Beyond the transformation programme, you’ll join a Pricing function committed to research, development and continuous improvement, with ongoing opportunities to shape our capability and make a lasting difference.
As a Pricing Data Scientist, you’ll hold an influential position within our Head Office Pricing division, working across all our product lines (both personal and commercial lines). You’ll contribute to the benchmarking of our end-to-end pricing capability and lead activity to develop the methods, processes and people capability needed to support NFU Mutual’s current and future propositions.
Sitting within our Pricing Development team of around eight specialists, you’ll complete behavioural modelling, and research, development and innovation tasks across the full pricing lifecycle, acting as a technical expert, supporting the development and implementation of new pricing models and rating approaches that directly influence business outcomes.
You’ll design, build and continually improve models and analytics, using advanced statistical techniques and data science methods. At the same time, you’ll take ownership of model performance and monitoring, as well as quality control processes and data integrity, ensuring outputs remain accurate, compliant and effective for decision making.
Alongside your technical contribution, you’ll help strengthen capability across the function – through both stakeholder engagement and management / mentoring more junior colleagues. You’ll work with key stakeholders to identify relevant people-capability benchmarks and support strategies, development plans and centralised learning solutions. You’ll also champion coaching and mentoring, helping colleagues build their expertise and realise their potential, setting clear expectations and supporting their contribution to business objectives.
This role will be aligned to our Stratford-upon-Avon offices – with the expectation that you will spend 20% of your time onsite, and up to 80% working from home.
FYI – you will be known internally as Pricing Development Consultant
About you

You’re confident leading complex work, influencing stakeholders & peers, and supporting others to develop, showcasing your own strong, learning mindset.
You’ll also bring a genuine interest in developing others. Whether through coaching, mentoring, knowledge sharing or direct people leadership, you understand how to create the conditions in which colleagues can perform effectively and continue to build their capabilities.
So, to join NFU Mutual, you’ll bring:
