About the Business Unit

Global Delivery Services Centre (GDSC) is a high-impact business unit within Mott MacDonald, dedicated to enhancing project delivery across our global operations.

As part of GDSC, you’ll join a team that champions excellence in both technical and digital disciplines, supporting projects at every stage of the lifecycle—from concept to completion. As part of GDSC in India, you will be working alongside Mott MacDonald international colleagues delivering ambitious projects across a broad range of building types including commercial, residential, retail and offices, education, healthcare, airports, data center, hotels, sports and events venues, and Metro & stations. Under this sector, our services span the whole asset cycle from advisory to consulting, through design and delivery, to asset management. With deep understanding of all phases of the building lifecycle, it enables us to give our clients the best-informed engineering and innovative solutions.

Role

The primary role of the Senior Structural Engineer is to work and lead a small design team undertaking structural analysis and design works in both Structural steel and reinforced concrete building structures.

Key Deliverables:

  • Structural Design & Analysis: Developing conceptual and detailed designs for new builds, renovations, or extensions. This includes calculating loads and stresses on beams, columns, and foundations to ensure structural integrity.

  • Technical Documentation: Preparing detailed reports, specifications, and drawings. Engineers must ensure all designs comply with current UK Building Regulations and relevant Eurocodes.

  • Project Collaboration: Working closely with architects and other engineering disciplines (MEP, Civil) to align structural solutions with aesthetic and functional project goals.

  • Material Selection: Advising on appropriate construction materials (e.g., steel, concrete, timber) based on factors like safety, cost, and environmental impact.

  • Managing a team: Experience in managing a team on delivery of a project including review of deliverables by the team.

  • Mentoring: Mentoring Junior Engineers and BIM modellers on the functional Engineering aspects.

Candidate Specification

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the structural design works for building structures (concrete and steel).

Essential Skills & Software

  • Engineering knowledge: Strong knowledge on structural behaviours and decision making proficiency on structural framing and analysis.

  • Software Proficiency:

  • Analysis Tools: Proficiency in software like Tekla Structural Designer, Robot Structural Analysis, or ETABS.

  • BIM & Drafting: Basic knowledge of Autodesk revit, BIM 360, Projectwise and functional level skills on navisworks or revitzo.

  • Professionalism: Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Professional Status: Preferred candidates working toward or holding Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) status with the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
