Job Description

Location/s: Thailand
Recruiter contact: Monnattha Ketpaiboon

Mott MacDonald is a global engineering, management, and development consultancy committed to delivering impactful work that shapes the future.

We are a team of over 20,000 experts working across more than 50 countries worldwide.

Our success is powered by our brilliant people, who bring a diverse range of skills, experiences, and viewpoints to achieve extraordinary results. As a proudly employee-owned business, we prioritise fairness, integrity, and the wellbeing of our team.

We offer numerous opportunities for learning, growth and excellence, ensuring that everyone feels empowered, supported and valued. Join us and be part of a connected global team where you can pursue your ambitions and have the platform to be brilliant.

Thailand has a mature renewable energy market, while the wider East Asia region continues to grow. Mott MacDonald’s established Thailand office serves as an East Asia hub for our renewable energy business. Our consultants have developed strong technical and commercial expertise and are recognised in the market through the successful delivery of client projects.

We are looking for a Senior Renewable Energy Engineer to join our team and contribute to exciting projects across Solar, Wind, and Low Carbon Energy & Thermal power generation. Your project focus will be aligned with your experience, background, interests and motivation, with opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and energy technologies where your skills and project needs allow.

You will have the opportunity to work on leading energy projects in one or more of the following areas:

  • Solar: Ground-mounted, floating and large-scale solar PV projects across Asia-Pacific and globally, including standalone and hybrid projects incorporating BESS
  • Wind: Onshore and offshore wind projects across Asia-Pacific and globally, including hybrid projects incorporating BESS
  • Low Carbon Energy & Thermal Power Generation: Biomass, biogas, waste-to-energy, combined-cycle gas turbine and geothermal projects across Asia-Pacific and globally

The role will involve both technical delivery and project management across a range of energy projects globally, with a particular focus on Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region. Working with multidisciplinary teams across Mott MacDonald, you will deliver high-quality technical advisory and owner’s engineering services, support the growth of our renewable and Low Carbon Energy business, and contribute to the technical development of the regional team.

As part of our Thailand team, you will have opportunities to:

  • Work on high-profile renewable and Low Carbon Energy projects in Thailand, across the region and internationally
  • Contribute to both technical delivery and project management, working across disciplines and energy technologies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across our Asia and global offices
  • Support the development, securing and delivery of opportunities for key Thai and international clients
  • Take on increasing responsibility as your experience develops, including project management and business development activities

Candidate Specification:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in renewable energy, electrical, mechanical or civil engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • At least five years of relevant experience, with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: Solar PV, Wind, or Low Carbon Energy (thermal power generation). Experience gained within an engineering consultancy, project developer, owner, contractor or other relevant organisation would be advantageous
  • Experience in BESS or hybrid renewable energy projects would be an advantage
  • Experience across more than one energy technology would be welcomed but is not essential
  • Excellent written and spoken English, for example equivalent to a TOEIC score of 800 or above or an IELTS score of 6.5 or above
  • Experience contributing to technical delivery and project management in an international, multicultural environment
  • Strong technical understanding and the ability to solve complex engineering problems
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking and numerical skills
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • A keen interest in renewable and Low Carbon Energy technologies, with a good understanding of relevant market trends and commercial considerations
  • Willingness to travel as required for projects and business opportunities
  • Willingness to work from the office in accordance with company requirements
