Your Opportunity

Due to exciting upcoming projects, we have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Designer to be part of our Digital services team in Australia. You will be joining a diverse team of consultants, developers and software engineers who are passionate about what they do, with a proven track record of guiding our projects and clients, and leading the delivery of digital ways of working across infrastructure projects. This role is Sydney based.

This role sits within Mott MacDonald’s Digital Services Team and focuses on developing automation, computational design workflows, and intelligent digital engineering solutions. The role blends computational design, parametric modelling, and light software development to enhance project delivery and unlock new digital capabilities across the business.

You will:

  • Develop computational design workflows using Grasshopper, Rhino, Dynamo, Revit, Civil 3D, and related platforms.

  • Create automation scripts and custom tooling to streamline modelling, documentation, and analysis processes.

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and digital services teams to translate project problems into digital solutions.

  • Implement parametric and data-driven approaches that enhance quality, consistency, and efficiency.

  • Prototype and develop lightweight applications or scripts using Python, C#, or relevant APIs.

  • Support integration of design tools with Common Data Environments (CDEs) and wider digital workflows.

  • Document workflows and develop guidance to ensure repeatability and adoption across project teams.

  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and digital engineering methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of programming/scripting languages such as Python or C#.

  • Understanding of automation, data structures, and digital workflow optimization.

  • Ability to develop parametric models and adapt them for different disciplines and project needs.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate design challenges into computational solutions.

About you

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Bentley products, or other infrastructure modelling tools.

  • Exposure to API integration, custom add-ins, or workflow automation frameworks.

  • Knowledge of AECO industry digital systems, BIM standards, and CDE integrations.

  • Understanding of digital twins, data federation, and emerging model intelligence concepts.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Computational Design, Software Engineering, or related field.

  • Equivalent computational design experience is accepted.

Key Skills

  • Curious, experimental, and proactive mindset towards digital innovation.

  • Collaborative working style with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical workflows to non-technical users.

  • Comfortable working in an iterative, prototype-driven environment.
