About the business unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

Overview of the role

Our Nuclear, Defence and Civil division continues to grow, and we are seeking an experienced BIM Manager to lead digital delivery across a diverse portfolio of complex and high-profile projects.

This is a client-facing leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape and drive BIM and information management practices across major nuclear, defence, energy and infrastructure programmes. Working closely with project teams, clients and supply chain partners, you will provide strategic oversight of digital delivery, ensuring the consistent application of industry standards, robust information management processes and innovative digital solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

You will play a key role in championing best practice, supporting project teams in delivering high-quality digital outputs and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the business.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Lead and oversee BIM and digital delivery activities across multiple projects, ensuring consistency, quality and compliance with project requirements
  • Develop, implement and maintain BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), information management procedures and digital delivery strategies in collaboration with clients, project teams and supply chain partners
  • Provide guidance on the application of BIM standards, processes and information management requirements, including ISO 19650
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Technical Leads and Information Managers to establish effective digital delivery frameworks and governance
  • Review and assure the quality of BIM models and information deliverables, ensuring compliance with agreed standards, security requirements and client expectations
  • Oversee the configuration and management of Common Data Environments (CDEs), supporting efficient information exchange across project teams
  • Coordinate with discipline leads and task teams to establish and maintain responsibility matrices, information delivery plans and project workflows
  • Monitor project performance from a digital delivery perspective, identifying risks, opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Represent digital delivery within client meetings, project reviews and working groups, acting as a trusted advisor on BIM and information management matters
  • Promote the adoption of emerging technologies, innovative tools and best practice digital engineering methodologies
  • Support the development, mentoring and upskilling of BIM professionals across the business
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of digital delivery standards, templates, processes and governance frameworks

Candidate specification

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience leading BIM and digital delivery on complex multidisciplinary engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience developing BIM Execution Plans, information management processes and delivery workflows aligned to client requirements and industry standards
  • Strong working knowledge and practical application of ISO 19650 principles and information management methodologies
  • Proficiency in Autodesk platforms including Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and related digital delivery tools
  • Experience managing Common Data Environments and project information workflows
  • Ability to influence, mentor and support project teams in the implementation of BIM and digital delivery best practice
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging directly with clients and project leadership teams
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering projects within the nuclear, defence or other highly regulated sectors
  • Formal BIM or ISO 19650 accreditation
  • Experience of digital engineering strategies, automation tools or emerging digital technologies
  • Familiarity with security-conscious digital delivery environments and associated governance requirements

Why join us?

At Mott MacDonald, you’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most challenging and nationally significant projects, helping to deliver solutions that support the energy transition, national security and critical infrastructure.

You’ll collaborate with talented multidisciplinary teams, contribute to industry-leading digital delivery practices and play a key role in shaping the future of engineering through innovation and technology.

Please be advised that offers for this role are conditional upon obtaining the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
